It’s great to see you again! I appreciate you walking through your thought process of letting things go, even when they are just a little off. it really only takes feeling slightly off to completely neglect wearing something. I have been doing a larger scale Declutter, as I am working my way down through a massive amount of clothing. Now four months postpartum with my third baby, my body has changed in shape, but I also still have some weight to lose. Some things I need to let go of because I am on two seasons now not wearing a lot of them; things like blazers and trousers. But others, I do need to wait as my body returns to a comfortable size and weight. I love that you are giving things to your daughter instead of selling them! It helps you save money actually because those are things that will fulfill her clothing need as she grows. My eldest daughter is also almost 12, and I actually just gave her my cigarette jeans as well! I had a black pair just like yours and a blue denim pair. For the same reason, I handed them off to her and she was so excited to get them. She is my height and starting to fill Out in her womanly shape. Many of my items I would have been putting aside to sell, I have given to her which makes us both excited. My poor husband, though… he is getting a little confused, with whose laundry is whose!😂

You now have a 76 year old subscriber who has been through all this soul searching and waste for 56 years. I grew up in Dallas in a wealthy family and had many fun outings with aunts shopping at Neiman Marcus and the lovely stores. But my adult life as a housewife has been very different....and I live on $1300 a month Social Security. No more Fair Trade or organic or "sustainable"...though I have a treasured collection of USA made towels, sheets, and memento clothes. Practical sewing is expensive and the seamstresses online YT are mostly nostalgia....a very expensive indulgence. I also love striped tee shirts....this is fun, YOU are sweet and fun. I hope your channel grows and brings inspiration for the hard times around the corner for many Americans.

Hey Val! I know what you mean about something feeling “too dressy.” I really struggle with this, and I end up “saving” certain pieces because they feel dressy due to their lighter colour, their care requirements, or their price. I don’t like to hand wash clothes hardly ever and I now never go to the dry cleaner because it’s too inconvenient my work schedule . So when pieces are cream coloured, white, or need special washing, I mentally think of them as being “dressy” and I don’t wear them on a regular basis. It doesn’t matter if the style of the piece is casual, it’s more about the upkeep of it. I decided I need to buy things that I don’t consider “too precious”, otherwise I just won’t wear it. I’m still learning this lesson because my fantasy self loves dressy dry clean only tailored pieces, so it’s a battle of what I like vs what I actually wear. I totally can empathise and relate. ❤
