I had my second baby two weeks ago and let me tell you, it's so wise to be ruthless when clearing out your closet pre-baby. Once I became a mom, all I wanted to wear was super simple, comfortable clothes that were effortless to style and I ended up basically replacing my whole wardrobe. It's impossible to really predict what you are going to feel/look like after becoming a mom but you generally can't go wrong with high waisted, comfortable, easy to launder, and natural fabrics for those first few months or years. Especially if breastfeeding or doing a lot of baby wearing. I haven't even touched some of the more fun pieces I had from college, partially because I don't want to ruin them and partially because my bust never shrunk back to pre-baby size! So excited for you, Allison!

Declutterring always feels so good! But even better when you’re pregnant & know there are things you can’t currently wear. I pray for you that post pregnancy your foot size doesn’t change ❤ mine went up a whole half size! Apparently that can happen lol… I never knew. Mama needed to do some serious shoe shopping after my shoe declutter.

Don't forget to keep pieces you might want to give to your daughter or son. I kept things for my daughters, and I'm so glad I did because it was a special gift to see them enjoy them. Especially since my oldest has been gone, I cherish her clothes now and wear them all the time. I also got a hope chest, my mom's recommendation when I was pregnant to keep special baby things they wore or keepsakes to show them and have for their children. I only have one daughter now who may not have children, but I cherish those material things even if it's ego based. I would rather have my daughter, but I'm grateful I have so many things of hers to hold. ❤

Also remember that your body changes after having a baby so things you thought might fit do not anymore. My plan is if I have not wore it within 6 months I feel I am not going to wear it later. Plus things change and so do our bodies. I use to keep things thinking I would get back into it or the style will come back guess what not… I just try to pick a few new items each year for staple pieces.

So true, I had to buy a whole new wardrobe after I had my first baby. I even still fit a lot of my clothes but felt very uncomfortable in them. I wore a lot of denim short shorts and crop tops and once I became a mum and put on my old clothes I felt like mutton dressed as lamb 😂 (I was only 23). It’s a whole new relationship with your baby PP that’s for sure

Ok this is so relatable tho bc as someone who used to live in Florida and has family there, it’s so hard to get rid of clothes (I mean in general it’s hard because like you said you might regret it later) because you never know what you’re gonna need when you travel. Florida weather is pretty standard, rain, sun, heat, chilly sometimes, etc. but when you travel to other places and need warm clothes, sometimes they don’t even fit anymore or you don’t know what you’ll need. My grandma still lives in florida and I took her to Germany for the Christmas markets and went through her closet with her and I had to buy her some warm gloves and wool socks and she didn’t know what would still fit her lol it’s a struggle! I live in Washington now and we have all the seasons so it’s easier to maintain a “well rounded” wardrobe because you wear all the clothes every year
