In 'Cadeaux at the Chateau', all of the inhabitants of the Chateau de Lalande gather together to open beautiful gifts that people have sent from all over the world. All of the monetisation from these videos will be donated to a different charity each month. KZbin earnings fluctuate wildly each month, as ad revenue changes throughout the year. Here are the charities that we've donated to so far:
July 2020:
British Heart Foundation UK (in memory of my father) €634
August 2020:
Alzheimer's Research UK (in memory of all of the residents of my parents' nursing homes) €350
September 2020:
Prostate Cancer Foundation (in memory of Selmar's father) €1255
October 2020:
Medecins sans Frontieres (chosen by my mother to support vaccinations in Africa) €942 (equivalent to 426 cholera vaccinations)
November & December 2020 & Jan & Feb 2021:
A Lalande Fashion Scholarship for a student at the Villioti Fashion Institute in South Africa €5500
March 2021:
Suffolk Artlink (amount to be confirmed at the beginning of April)
I used to show the gifts as part of 'The Chateau Diaries' episodes, but you're all so very generous that we have many gifts, and if we spent the episodes opening them, we wouldn't be able to show you other aspects of chateau life! So, for those of you who enjoy watching presents being opened, and as a way to thank those of you who were kind enough to send them, I've made this new channel. Every week we will film your beautiful gifts whilst enjoying afternoon tea or aperitif together.
It is very important to me that you know that we in no way expect anyone to send us gifts. I would like to go further than that and add that, if doing so will put you in any financial difficulty whatsoever, please, please do not send us anything. Knowing that you join us by watching 'The Chateau Diaries' gives us all an enormous boost. But for those of you who have sent these incredibly thoughtful gifts, I hope that seeing us open them gives you a fraction of the joy that you've given us, and that by monetising this channel for charity we can pass on that joy to others 💖💖💖

“ but they speak french!” this is true…. think about it. any “pet” hears what their “parent” says. they associate words they hear into activities, not a direct translation. i once babysat a dog that “spoke” Bulgarian. had to get a leash to may sure he was under my control. my english was not gonna cut it! we both survived. 🦩🦚

I have those glass containers with the taps and they are great with lemonade or homemade ice tea. when they are full with liquid, just unscrew the lid a little so that it pours better.

Purdy’s chocolates! You need to know what you are getting! A Chocolatier family from Vancouver BC Canada making Chocolates since 1901. Excellent quality ingredients, and not too sweet! So sad Phillip can’t try the hedgehogs... they are so delicious. Ps they use only sustainably grown cocoa. I toured their factory several times for the rich aroma and the free chocolate sample! ( why not? I lived close....)

Another fun vlog!!! It’s amazing how people send things and then Stephanie says.....I was going to buy that or that’s something we talked about needing or how did “they” (gift giver) know this would match/go with a certain room in the chateau. I think after people watch your vlogs they really get a sense of the chateau because Stephanie describes everything so well and what her thought is for a particular project, etc. Thanks for the laughter today...I needed it....😂😉💜🙏

As the handle to the teapot is damaged you might insider sending it out to a professional restorer so that it will be structurally sound. Wouldn’t be good for a glued back handle to give way when the pot is full of hot tea. Gluing will be fine if it’s just used for display however. Johanna. Maine USA

There are so many amazing gifts, especially the beautiful art pieces, it would be a wonderful idea to start a registry of what gifts were received by whom. Same for all the cards and notes, these could be kept now as part of the “Chateau de Lalande Archives” as they are now contributing to the history and beautification of the Chateau. Just a thought.

I am the same age as Selmar. As a child I would come home to the smell of Kangaroo tail soup. My mum tried to tell me it was ox tail. The distinct smell told me instantly it wasn’t. But my husband loves it.

If the teapot is bone china... that could be mended by holding broken pieces in place and placing in milk and bringing the milk to a boil (If there is a farm local that has milk going sour so as not to waste good milk). No joking my Father has done this on many a occasion even making the farmers very curious as to why he needed sour milk. :):) Again Happy Easter to all Lalander's
