In this updated overview video, Jason will show you how to install the spring-loaded backlash nuts onto your LongMill CNC. These auto-adjusting backlash nuts help to take the guesswork out of adjusting the tension on the leadscrews for your machine. Installation is easy and fairly straightforward. Only a couple of tools are necessary and should take about half an hour to complete all four sets.
While we don't show how the X-axis is installed, the installation process is the exact same as the Y-axis. Users with the 12x30 and 30x30 only need the T8 spring-loaded nuts. bit.ly/3TgZnUL. For those with the 48x30 LongMills, you will need to purchase the T12 spring-loaded nuts as well. bit.ly/3uSi7jY
While our spring-loaded nuts are currently undergoing user testing, they may change appearance between generations but the installation will remain the same.

Ditto. I even made my OWN video explaining that, if you have induction sensors and install the X springs "exactly" like the Y springs, then the gantry hits the frame before the sensor detects it and you have to adjust your sensor. I had to add a big update notice about this when other Longmill users pointed out the error. But thanks for Sienci for updating their video!

@NealsBumblebeeCrafts Yeah, I don't know about any other videos about it. But I think once it was installed backwards, some people kind of figured it out. I knew something was really weird once it was installed and sticking out past the gantry plate lol. It was a quick fix, tho. So I don't think it had anything to do with the sensors. But it was definitely corrected with the updated video, its really cool that they did that. 👍👍

This is a great upgrade for my CNC. I was never sure exactly how tight the old ones should be. I found that there wasn’t enough room on the Z axis of my MK1 no matter how I oriented the new backlash nut. I finally realized that as recommended in the original assembly instructions my router mount was on the upper set of holes. Once I moved it down everything worked out. Getting at those setscrews to move it down proved to be quite difficult with everything assembled. It would be appreciated if you pointed out this possible problem and added some instructions on an easy way to move the router mount on an already assembled CNC.

Trying to install per these instructions on a MK2, had previously installed the z axis opposite from the way you suggested. When I try to flip it over I can't as there is a conflict with two of the four screws holding the router mount to the gantry. Can't get the backlash holes aligned with the gantry holes.

Did you get this sorted out? I’m having the exact issue you’re describing.

Also, you will want to install the x-axis (at least for the T12 version) with the spring side of the backlash nut facing towards the right or the router (away from the x-axis motor), otherwise about half of the backlash nut is off the gantry plate. This is opposite of what you show for the y-axis installation.
