How come she places passive stuns and og storm doesn't when they both do it? So confused

OG Storm can inflict passive stuns only against Skill champs, But Storm X can inflict passive stuns against all opponents.

If this is the easiest option show it with a 5*. Because not everyone has a 6* or 7*.

This is easiest coz she can parry stun him every single time, Even if annihilus purifies parry stun she will inflict passive stuns. Also she can gain 3 permanent prowess buffs which can deal with the buffed up Node. A 5 star can still do the job , but will take a few Revives.
