Eyeing this, strongly considering a buy. So been watching what I can on KZbin, for audio demos. Didn't expect a video like yours 🤩 Totally 100% exceeds my expectations, to get all your insights like this. Thank you "Cathy" 😃

I recently got one of these online and havent received it yet. I am very excited for it. I have watched all the other videos on the pioneer sr-202w and they have been so dry and boring. I really enjoyed your video. I do stereo repair and reference youtube a lot and checking out your other videos I just have to say that its so refreshing having someone who isnt so deadly dry and elitist telling you what to do. I checked out your other videos. Instant subscribe. I look forward to watching the others and more to come! Awesome channel and great videos! Dig it big time!

HI! Could you help me by any chance by providing the values of the Input and Output DC Resistance from the reverb tank measuring it with a multimeter? Mine is broken and I wanted to replace it with an original or similar one, but it can't be found anywhere on the net, nor is it possible to trace its values. Now I've replaced it with an ACCUTRONICS BMN3FB3E that I had lying around in my studio, the sound that comes out is very nice but when I push the reverb knob a lot of background noise comes out. I also tried to do the total recap by replacing all 14 electrolytic capacitors but nothing changed! In the meantime, I would like to understand first if the tank I'm using is fine or I need another one with different values, and then eventually I'll also change all the transistors. In the meantime, since I really enjoyed the video, I'll check your channel/other videos and subscribe to the channel ;)

Hi loved this vid!! I have a in-the-weeds question: I’m trying to remove the dry signal on my SR-202W to only get wet signal. I read on a forum that if you remove resistors R117 and R118 then it cuts the dry signal, but I’m having trouble identifying which two they are on the board (though I see them on the schematic). Any chance you might be able to provide some guidance here? No worries if not - just thought I’d ask! Thanks for the great video! ☺️
@cathode_gay_tube1312 Жыл бұрын
hi friend:) i think the controls give you full "wet" dont they? if not i can check the schematic:)

Awesome info! I'm trying to sort a repair on one of these - it's passing input the signal but makes a hum when the reverb is up and the reverb is quiet (however the reverb is loud when physically making the unit vibrate). Assuming it's either the send to the spring or something in the summing section but my repair guy so far hasn't found any solutions.. Wondered if you have any suggestions? Many thanks
@cathode_gay_tube13122 ай бұрын
heyy its possible the drive preamp has some bad caps or maybe theres a bad connection/routing in the controls. interesting how many people have issues with this unit

I just got one of these but when I hook it up I get a ton of buzz/hum, almost like a grounding issue. Do you know hat cause this and how to fix?? Thanks. Great vid.

Yeah! i think i talk about it in this video. try adding capacitors to the regulator circuit!

Hello, thanks for this great video. I have an SR-202W and would like to replace the transistors, (it's pretty noisy) do you have any recommendations for replacements?
@cathode_gay_tube1312 Жыл бұрын
hey! im going to be doing a followup video shortly! are you looking to replace components in the signal path or were you referring to the power supply regulation?
@RobeMusic Жыл бұрын
@@cathode_gay_tube1312 I was going to replace all transistors (Q101-Q205) and recap as well. (I'm basic when it comes to electronics...good at soldering and following instructions...but not at diagnosing problems...so figured a recap and replace old transistors would do the trick)

@@RobeMusic nice! im actually planning on replacing the entire psu to eliminate noise, but recapping it did help! good luck!

This was super helpful thank you! I actually just ordered one of these and I'm super excited about it. So it's not two tanks RIP true stereo, but it sounds really good from what I've been able to gleam from some demos. Does it mix a dry signal in with the wet signal? Do you know if there's a way to isolate the wet signal so that I can just use a send bus with it?
@cathode_gay_tube13122 жыл бұрын
it is a wet/dry mix! if you turned it "up" all the way it would be all wet and youd mix it into your bus to taste. as far as i can tell, at least
@uriahfindley62312 жыл бұрын
I know this is old...but the trick for this one is... Since it's actually mono, if you send your signal into only one channel, left or right, then the other one should give you a pure wet signal. ;)

I’m wondering if anyone can help me with the exact connection method. I think I have it set up correct (I hear the boing boing when I tap it) but I’m not hearing that dramatic reverb echo…I’m sending it into and out of a pioneer SX 535. Any thoughts?
@cathode_gay_tube13122 ай бұрын
hihi! this unit has some swtiches for "tape" etc so if youre not getting signal, try some different control combinations to see if there was just a routing switch set incorrectly. hope that helps!
