All these negative comments about how this collection is boring is such an insult to not only Karl Lagerfeld, but to the whole design team and the house brand. This collection was carefully put together with Karl’s inspiration drawn from somewhere where he spends countless hours sketching out his ideas. Hundreds of staff members (seamstresses, pattern makers, designers, etc) collaborated and spent months and late hours creating each piece. Only a true fashionista and a lover of art can appreciate the quality and craftsmanship that was carefully applied to each piece. Chanel stands for classic and timeless elegance for the woman who wants luxe tailoring (using tweed) and artistic details. If this bores you then you don’t understand the house of Chanel. Also, it’s not easy for a creative director to come up with something completely new and exciting, each and every season. Expectations are always going to be high but I believe that every collection is beautiful and spectacular in every way. Not to mention the attention to detail he puts into the location and design set for each show.

Honestly I think the high prestige of the Chanel brand makes people envious so they close their minds and turn to negativity because it doesn't fit exactly their vision of perfectness. The more incredible your work is the more critics will fall, the grand majority are not relevant and come from frustration and envy. This show was very elegant to me, as a designer for movie this is gold to my eyes and my brain ^^ All the little hands at Chanel really did an amazing job, like usual. Much respect from me.

I kind of really like this Western Chic meets Sugar fairy style. It somehow manages to be tough and overly sweet at the same time. The powerful walk and androgynous body shapes, right down to the wedding pant suit, create a juxtaposition to the overkill of baby pink and wedding veils.

Haute couture still fascinates people, we just need to pay attention to what ready to wear brands create and street wear brands do follow. Obviously because of the crisis the number of people who can afford did decrease. The partnership between high end brands and celebrities did and continues to help younger generations to be aware of what is going on in the haute couture world. Also the life style where everyone is running and busy does not help for too many people to embrace this sense of style. I grew up surrounded by what i saw in magazines and tv in the 80´s so i personally like to bring that high end touch to what i wear even in a casual way.

Before considering the age group that has the ability to purchases those pieces, was like "here we go, another collection that adds 10000 years onto the young ladies that wears it". BUT! To me this was Karl’s girl boss collection. I think the looks in pleated chiffon in bold jewel colors were a slay, there were many amazing evening looks as well, I love how Chanel is ethereal but also a little bit silly at times 😅 like with these tiny kangaroo pockets. I think showing the outerwear first makes sense, you have to picture the full Chanel look, the evening dress with the corresponding tweed coat or jacket, that’s why those are more plain or abstract, so your dress shines through and you don’t stand out too much in the crowd, but it did made for a rather monotonous show. Personally I’m not a fan of crazy shoulder pads, A line dresses and the triangles on the front center of skirts that Karl likes to do 😂 but I like the rest, there’s many amazing looks in this one

Angel Reeves perhaps... I don’t own personally couture, but I own several Chanel ready to wear pieces. While I am a big fan of the brand, I stand by my opinion that this collection was very weak. I am however familiar with couture and yes it is in the details but also in the design.

I luuuuv chanel tweed. I own a tweed coat of theyrs thats black and white. But im not a fan of the tweed shoes..😕 I ABSOLUTLY LUUUV THOSE CHANEL PINKLAMBSKIN HALF GLOVES..AGHHH MOST HAVE 4SURE.. I agree! it was the essence of Parisian glamour! But my favorite haute couture collections are the spring 2017, spring 2016 and the fall 2008! This collection just didn’t have strong point of view, but the set design and music was fantastic none the less! And CHANEL + Karl have so many historical fashion moments that I’m not even mad at this one being slightly lackluster! 😘

Part of why I admire Chanel's couture is part of the reason I think it's problematic - they have really some of the most geometrically accurate and elaborate embroideries, which must be a technical feat in comparison to doing free-form large florals or curlicues, but then from far and on those blocky silhouettes Karl favours, all that detail just reads as good ol' tweed.
