So exciting to find thus tune again after learning who Kristian Lunde was! And so special to have a form after a woman to play.

Thanks again! There is no other object I would rather own than a Hardanger fiddle - other than maybe a Swedish nyckelharpa - but my money will not stretch enough to buy either one! At least thanks to KZbin etc. I can watch, listen to or in some cases play along with this wonderful Nordic music.

Whatever it is you're referring to (!) this is absolutely beautiful.

ADAE ist the most common tuning, but there are up to around a dozen tunings, including the conventional violin tuning GDAE. Mostly the Hardanger fiddle is tuned to a higher pitch. ADAE sounds more like CFCG.

Thanks for that - from what I understand would that be ADAE? I only have a normal fiddle, and even when tuned ADAE it's never going to sound as good as it does on Hardanger with the drone strings. But I'm sure that I'll enjoy the experience!

Same here. Also I can not afford a Hardanger fiddle. If you want to have fun with your normal fiddle, then start to play tunes from Eastern or Northern Norway. There the tunes - often "Pols" - are played on normal fiddles without drone strings. I suggest that you start playing Pols or Reinlender from Röros or Glåmos in Eastern Norway. NO "hardingfele" is required for those tunes ! And they sound very well and very Norwegian.

Annbjorg, or anybody out there - can you tell me what tuning is used on this beautiful piece of music?. I've been following your fingers, but can't seem to figure out the tuning.

On Annbjorg's live recording "Aliens Alive" and many of her other recordings, she uses BEBF#. Some of the old recordings of Knut Buen are even CFCE
@agogobell285 жыл бұрын
Yeah most often it’s BEBF#, but occasionally it’s AEBF#. For Fanitullen, BF#BD# is used.m, and for Kjellstadhallingen (off her debut album), it’s BEG#F#.
