It's always an interesting journey from the neck pour to the bottle kill. One really interesting thing is to fill a sample bottle when one opens a bottle, seal it really good and save it until the bottle kill, and then compare the first dram with the last.

I've definitely found that when the bottle has been opened for a few weeks and after the first few drams, a lot of the initial saltiness dies back. And I've never decided whether that's entirely a good thing. Either way, it's fantastic from first pour to last.

Yeah I love a bit of salinity in a coastal dram, there were certainly some dominant notes on opening I was happy to see make way for others, but that wasn't one of them! Cheers!

A neck pour will always be the poorest relatively speaking for almost all bottles. Get it past the shoulder to get the maximum area of air contact to the whisky and this opens up and improves even more.

I've found it needs a bit of water and it sweetens up
