Excellent and moving documentary. I was SO pleased Jack wanted my song, The World Came To Springburn, for this project, and watching the final production brought back SO many memories!

Great film of a great place. Born stobhill brought up Springburn. Honest film, thanks to those still fighting for Springburn. City fathers hold your heads in shame. Good luck to all involved in the community. Thanks for film. Brought a shed load of memories

I was born in Coldstream Place off Keppochill Rd now a bus stop not far from Roy St (also gone) we then moved to Northcroft Rd (also gone) I remember Calderwoods Dairy then moved to Dykemuir St. I went to Wee Albert School then Balornock Primary then to Albert Secondary. Springburn had the seven hills…….Petershill/Barnhill/Keppochill/Queenshill/Hillkirk/Balgrayhill/Stobhill….and you could add Sighthill. I remember Woolies, Cameron’s paper shop, Castles records, the Sports Emporium shop where you got the subbuteto football teams, Princes pictures, The Baths, Selyns, Lizzie Maxwells gift shop, Curleys, Beagini Chippie and Santi’s. Yes I may have left Springburn but it never leaves you. Fantastic wee film keep up the great work

Sad video😡, ( 1960) lived on Bedley St to Midton St. Now emigrated to Spain. I will always be a Springburn boy. Great place back then, I often think of my old pals, how they are and what are they doing. Great memories.

It's funny how in Glasgow, Glasgow City council listed buildings just go on fire one night. Without a soul in the areas know who done it.

Who was responsible for the late 70s plan to reconstruct Springburn? It really was cultural vandalism.

The City Council, I'm afraid - car was king, the suburbs were prioritised and getting middle class people from the green belt into the city was all that matter...and everything in-between was flattened to facilitate that:(

Where were the “blocks”. Really interesting architecture but can’t place them. What would be a modern reference point?
@TheLastTrain-se4hh2 ай бұрын
@@rosscopcoltrain8059 the whole topography's changed so much up there it's very hard pinpoint. Look for the newest housing up the back of the east end of Keppochill Road, I'd say - cos after the Blocks were demolished the council built the Fernbank scheme which was ALSO demolished less than 20 years later. Plus many of the street names were changed along the way. @Eddie MCaffery, can you help?

Springburn is in a sorry state, little industry, little hope. A dumping ground for asylum seekers, young people can't get Social Housing, all leads to a lack of community among the indigenous people. Labour destroyed Springburn's Winter Gardens and the Hall's on Keppochhill road. Snp is not interested, not Virtual Signalling enough for them.
