YES I PUT RICE IN THE SPRING ROLLS! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH For real though, I'm aware that traditional spring rolls don't include sushi rice. I was following a couple different pins. One included rice. My goal was to make them look like the picture. Not an easy task and using rice instead of rice noodles (which have a very similar flavor) made it easier for me. Also, the package for the wrappers said to soak them for 10-15 seconds. I learned after the first one that was too long.

If you like shrimp you can make super amazing spring rolls - cooked shrimp, cilantro, carrot, cucumber, and the little tiny noodles (rice vermicelli) - all in one roll and serve with sweet Thai chili sauce with crushed peanuts. I swear it's the best summer snack or a nice side for a Thai dinner. ( You can also omit the shrimp and they are still amazing- or replace shrimp with tofu, chicken, and other veggies) Spring rolls are super easy and easily adaptable to tastes! ( You also have to eat them pretty quickly after eating cause the wrapper dries out and the texture changes)

The microwave hack actually works really good, you have to leave the “solution” in the microwave for about 5 minutes after heating it up. I use that hack all the time, only I just use vinegar and water. The key is you want it to steam up in the microwave. This was a cool video I loved it.

This girl Cut some Flowers,Made some Spring Rolls and Cleaned her house... These Pin-splosions are getting Better and Better.
For the microwave: mix a small amount of dish soap in a spray bottle full of water. Spray generously onto every surface inside the microwave. Microwave for 1-2 minutes. Wipe clean. Severe stains will always take some elbow grease, but this does get everything nice and soft. Also that lemon and vinegar mix is good as a heavy-duty/all purpose cleaner.

I've had a lot of success with the microwave hack, but what I do is actually just put a lemon herbal tea bag in a bowl or mug of water (make sure there's not little staple anywhere) and add extra lemon juice to it. Then I heat it on high for 3-5 minutes or so, and it makes the whole inside of the microwave sort of hot and damp, so most things wipe off easily. But when wiping the inside of the microwave, I sometimes use a vinegar solution on the rag itself. I don't usually heat the vinegar in the microwave though (because it makes the whole house stink of vinegar instead of smelling like lovely lemon tea).

The vinegar/lemon solution works, you just need a much smaller glass so that the liquids vaporize and moisten the mess. It won't take out all of the grease, but it makes a huge difference.

The vinegar and lemon juice microwave hack does work, but I recommend instead of a dry cloth use a scotch brite scrubbing cloth dampened with a bit of the vinegar and lemon juice. The scrubbies are just prominent enough to help the super tough stuck on food while the cloth gets everything else that was loosened by the microwaved solution. I realize the point is not to scrub but unless you wipe out the microwave every time you use it, it needs a little bit of scrubbing. 🤷🏻♀️. I like to take the glass tray out and scrub it down with the lemon half. It makes it smell good.

Hello! Professional chef here! For a mandoline it is easier to push away from you instead of towards yourself if not using the safety guard. That way, you can keep an eye on how close you are getting to the blade. Also, use a flat hand and move the vegetable with the heel of your hand, that way you have one point of contact to worry about instead of all your fingers! And always be safe!

As for the microwave cleaning thing, I usually do a tablespoon or so of baking soda into 2 cups hot water, microwave it for a couple minutes, then leave it in the microwave without opening the door for 5 - 15 minutes and that usually works great unless something is really really burnt on.

I do use vinegar to clean my microwave and it does work. I don't add lemon juice though. But the trick is after it boils to leave it in the microwave so that the steam softens the food particles/spills/splatters. Boiled aka hot vinegar is also good for cleaning brass and copper. Used it to clean copper bottom pots and also to clean brass drawer handles.

Pro-tips from a Vietnamese person. Spring rolls typically use thin rice noodles not rice. Also if you used hot or warm water you don't have to soak the wrapper so long. Also let the wrapper it out for a few seconds to get tacky and a firmer. I will make it easier roll them tighter and more uniform. The veggies looked good in rolls too but if you are going to eat them raw you should consider marinating them before you make the rolls. It would make them more more appealing, or just add a little cooked pork or shrimp.
