I think that there are actually two types of springlock suits. The first version that was safer due to the having to remove the endo and only having the springlocks remain in the suit while the wearer was inside. The second version, which was more convenient/quicker to put on but more dangerous. Springtrap is of this variety. The endo folds up against the inner wall of the suit and is held back by the springlocks. The only reason these were more popular was because they were easier and quicker to put on. Heard about it while deep diving into FNAF lore and the book. It is really hard to follow.
