This gave me some nice ideas for my build. The water system will be next. Thanks for sharing. Cheers from LA.

You might want to move your water pump switch to the countertop area or some place where you can easily see it so you can quickly check that it is turned OFF before you leave the van.

Did a great job! FYI... hot is always on the left side, cold on the right. You have em backward, flip the hoses around.
@shaunwilkens4 жыл бұрын
It’s an ikea faucet and the hoses are all attached correctly. It’s designed to be cold toward you and hot away. The way it’s oriented in my van is different than ikea intended but to switch the hose would be confusing because there are blue and red markings indicating the direction to move the lever.

Ah, had no idea. Good to know.

Nicely done! Unrelated, you’ve got a lot of nice sweaters and coats.

2:20 Funny how you blurred the accidental middle finger. But on a serious note, why would you have a hole 1/2" larger than your pipe through the floor? I would think tolerances should be higher, like 1/8" at least.
@franklogrande91262 жыл бұрын
Why hide the water pump switch. You might forget that it’s on.
@shaunwilkens2 жыл бұрын
Water pump auto shuts off once pressure is reached (faucet switched to off) The switch is mostly there in case you need to leave the van for a long period of time and want some extra peace of mind by switching it off.

Why didn’t you filter the gray water back to the system for a recycling system?

How did you wire a switch to the AC outlet? With a relay?

Did KZbin pixel out your left middle finger when you were using it to indicate the hole in the floor? (2:22)

Curious why you would go electric instead of propane?
@shaunwilkens2 жыл бұрын
I mostly didn’t want to have propane on board. I didn’t feel it was unsafe. I just didn’t want one more fuel source to fill up. Now, I would recommend a hydronic heating system utilizing a diesel burner.

Hi Shaun, I wanted to know if you are happy with your system? My partner and I are considering the warm water option for our van build. Any thoughts would be lovely. Melissa Your videos rock!
@petethebeef3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, are you not loosing water from your vent tube, it not rising up?
@shaunwilkens2 жыл бұрын
It’s possible to lose it on a very steep hill. Make the vent tube rise as far as possible before lowering it to the drain port. This will mitigate the water loss

Looks good! Question, what size breaker is the outlet it’s plugged into? 15, 20 amps?

Thanks! It’s a 15 amp

Hey brother! Thanks for the how-to! I’m curious how these tanks are holding up for you? They’re a great deal compared to some of the other tanks available. Not keen on spending $400 for some water storage tanks
@shaunwilkens4 жыл бұрын
Hey! I sold the van a few months back but the tanks were holding up great. I’ll probably shell out a little more money on my next build for tanks that go over the wheel well and in the spare tire carrier. I’d say the quality of the plastic is the same in both cases though.

Random question what if you're 6'5"" and you want an affordable van where you can sleep comfortably in/walk around in... what model would you recommend?
@shaunwilkens4 жыл бұрын
I’d go with the Ford Transit long wheel base high roof cargo edition. It’s interior height is about 6’7. Another option is a box van but that limits getting in and out of the cab without going outside.
@jeremiahchacha96684 жыл бұрын
@@shaunwilkens Right on. Appreciate it brother.
@nmartin55514 жыл бұрын
Agree with recommendation of extra tall. You’d want a loner wheel base too, as you can’t put 6’5” across any van, except if you sleep diagonal
