Im going into my third year of track and have made up that I want to run in college. For months I have been eating the correct diet and working out everyday and will be talking to my coach tomorrow. Girls have said im not fast enough and laughed at me and how theres only x amount of good people on the JH team (im in 9th grade) but this is what i have a passion for and i cant wait to show them wrong this season. It only motivates me to get faster and improve my times. Thank you for this.

Thank you for this video. I had a track meet yesterday and before my 300m hurdle event, I listened to the audio and was extremely motivated. I had the slowest time in my heat (which was the fastest) and I beat my previous time by two whole seconds and got third. I was in lane 8, so I couldn't it see people ahead of me so I just kept thinking of this video throughout the race and kept on running and I'm extremely happy I beat my previous time by such a large margin. Thanks for the video

Last year, I wasn’t the person I am today. I would always show up to school sad and never get any of my work done. I would get into the wrong crowd, the worst idea ever. I started to drift away from my friend group, and they are the nicest, most fun, and loving people to ever live. But in my head, the worst out of all of these was, I was fat. I wanted a big change in my life so I went and tried track and field. I did a lot of throwing at first then I asked my coach if I could do more. Thus I was brought to my now love for running. There were so many times where I wanted to quit. Not just running, but to my whole life. I was starting to get better grades and I was hanging out with my friends again. But something felt missing. My track coach of corse always motivated me and all my other teammates, but I needed something that showed me. After watching this video about a year after that, I realized, I never did quit. The feeling of success is one of the best feelings someone can have. The transformation of a person is not just on the outside, but on the inside too. And I’m seeing everything now. I have a track meet today, and I needed this video. Thank you so much...

Problem is all my friends get ribbons and I don't which has taken a toll on me. Its funny I was feeling like shet...i almost about gave up on what I wanted to achive.. .accepting the shell of myself and doing what i didn't want to do in life...Then one day, I just decided to exercise and all the depression (I did not want to acknowledge it was depression but i have) went away. I do not belong just sitting at a desk doing mundane tasks. So I set a goal for myself 30 at 30.... which is 30 MPH running speed by the time I am 30 yrs old. It's probably impossible, but I love trying to reach the goal.

These sort of motivational videos are great, but I've never understood how they always go on about successful people who wouldn't sleep, and how you have to be willing to sacrifice sleep and so on.. Especially when it's a video dedicated to sports. Ask *any* professional athlete, and they'll tell you how sleep is one of the single most important factors to their success and wellbeing

Give it about 3 years ago. If I looked back at myself 3 years ago, all I would see is some normal kid that wasn't into his 200m. It was just a "meh" thing to him. NOW, that same boy is competing in events and competitions for him and his school. That same boy is racing against people from places like ARGENTINA and he's only from England. People still to this day say I ain't good enough. Just give me a couple of years and I promise I'll be in the Olympics competing for my country.

Ok but you can't sleep as much as you want. The earlier you wake up the more practice you can get in. Lebron james has a talk about this, he gets up at four just so he can get one more practice in a day. Five years of getting one more practice in a day than your opponent will put you so far ahead that they can't catch up no matter how hard they work in preseason.

Yea the key is work hard and smart at time that you're not interfering with sleep. But I get what he's trying to say, sometimes you need to sacrifice sleep, like getting up early instead of sleeping in

Hard work also means working hard to be efficient, to be effective. You don't just put the physical hard work in without putting the mental hard work in. I spend as much time mentally processing my work on the track and analyzing the technique of great sprinters as I spend time on the track. And while hard work means that you don't give up when you feel you are going to puke, it also means overcoming that urge to finish your training when you feel that that's going to cause you an injury. Overcoming that cognitive unease for not finishing a training because it's just not smart to do so for me is harder than overcoming the physical unease of giving it your all during training.

***** I think at sometimes it is also literal. Sometimes one may want to sleep but they have a choice, go to sleep now and possibly miss an opportunity, or stay up and work through the night through it. An example could be deadlines and risking to do it in the morning. So its both ways I believe heree

It was literal but it’s not advice that should be taken for athletes. It’ll work for non athletes to achieve success in other areas but you’ll be at your best if you sleep. When you sleep you release growth hormones, your testosterone goes up and your muscles repair when you sleep.
