If you don't have cutting of sweet potato at home don't worry you can buy sweet potato tubers from grocery store and sprouting them in water for planting in summer. You can choose what varieties or types of sweet potatoes do you want to sprouting. Two types of sweet potatoes first is bush sweet potatoes or they call veinless and the other one is vining sweet potatoes. You can choose what color of sweet potatoes do you interested to plant.
At home you can rooting the tubers of sweet potatoes in water with put water in a glass or something like that then soak the tubers in the water until rooting about 2 or 3 week. Make sure the tip part must be on top.
After 2 or 3 week slips of sweet potato ready to cut and soak them again in water until sprouting about 6 to 8 inches. If you stay in 4 season countries you can start sprouting the tubers 4 weeks before frost (indoor). And rooting the cutting of sweet potatoes 2 weeks before frost (indoor). After cutting have got roots plant them in outdoor after warm soil or when soil is ready to use.
Sprouting edible sweet potatoes from tubers for plant are the best method can apply at home. You can prepare raised bed or containers for planting the rooting cutting of sweet potatoes. If you got a limited place just use containers or pots for that and sacks or planter bags are good too.
