Thank you for your video. It's really useful. Can you explain more about how to interpret results?

Can I please ask how do you test whether an inconsistent mediation is significant? it's not a regular mediation and the sobel test doesn't work. Much appreciated your help.

Hi Y F, sadly I don't know the answer to that. You could maybe google for "Sobel test alternatives" maybe that helps

If C’ is significant and smaller than C is that an indication that it’s a partial mediation rather than a full mediation?
@baspsstutorials97833 жыл бұрын
C' is always smaller than C. If C' is really small and not significant, it means it's a full mediation If C' remains quite large and is significant, it is a partial mediation. If you want to know whether a mediation is significant or not, you can use the sobel test (a later episode in this series)

My mediating variable is ordinal variable, the dependent and independent variable are also categorical variables. can i use this method to test the modiation effect? thank you for the video. Also, if the effect with the mediator is not the same as the direct effect, we conclude that there is no mediation effect of the moderating variable ?
@pietislekker3 жыл бұрын
Is this also possible using panel data?
@karlaveras17933 жыл бұрын
Hello! So since the effect with the mediator is the same as the direct effect, we can conclude that the mediator has a positive mediating effect? Also, with a categorical dummy variable (e.g gender) how can we test the mediation effect on each gender?
@baspsstutorials97833 жыл бұрын
Hi Karla! Whether it's a positive or negative mediation depends on the slopes of the effects. In this case all slopes are positive, so it's a positive mediation. In terms of gender: gender can only be an independent or moderating variable, not a mediator. I therefore suggest doing a moderated regression with gender as a moderator. you can watch my videos about that as well! Hope this helps, Bas

@@baspsstutorials9783 Thank you so much! Yes, gender is my X aka independent variable with a continuous variable as M. Is there a way to test the mediating effect of M from each gender?
@baspsstutorials97833 жыл бұрын
@@karlaveras1793 what you are describing is a moderation with gender as the moderator and M > Y as the independent and the dependent. What you can also try is data > split file. And then split by groups and then gender. Then you get all tables twice, once for males and once for females.
