This is not a comment per se, but a question. Please I have six independent variables and one dependent variable. But I want to check PCA for only two of the six variables, If I am testing for PCA with KMO and the Bartletts Test of Sphericity, how should I go about it?

So if the KMO indicates that PCA would not be useful, wouldn't it be more educative to make a recommendation of what method then would be useful ?

Thanks for the presentation, can we do KMO test and Bartlett Test for Sphericity for a questionnaire only having categorical data (nominal and ordinal) ? Also is it suitable to do it when using Principal component analysis (PCA)

Hello, I have some trouble with my KMO and Barlett test. When I put all my variables including my Dependent and Independent variables, my KMO table was not printed out on the output and under correlation matrix's table it says "this matrix is not positive definite", what does it mean? in less technical term. I'm in my master's level and I am not that familiar with SPSS.

i thot PCA or factor analysis is done for ordinal or likert scale data only.....here its done for categorical and continuous data too.....plz help !
