In this video, I explain and practice how to carry out an independent t-test using SPSS or a test of the difference between the means of two independent samples using SPSS Version 26 (IBM SPSS 26). Apart from practicing the SPSS independent sample t-test method, there is also the interpretation of the SPSS output from the independent sample t-test as well as the basic concepts of different SPSS t-test tests, especially the independent sample t-test.
The independent t-test is a test of the average difference between two independent samples and is included in parametric statistics, where the assumption of data normality must be met. If the assumption of data normality is not met in the SPSS independent t-test, you can use the Mann-Whitney test as an alternative test for the difference in the means of two samples. The data scale used in the independent sample t-test is interval or ratio data.
