The California cowboys, the Mexicans, would give the jingle bob spurs to the best cowhand, and anyone who heard them jingle, would only have to look in that direction to find the best. It was an honor to earn them.The cows or livestock couldn’t care less about the jingle.

resons for jingle bobs. loose rowel of old time spurs were uses to send a pre signal jingle to the horse to let them know the spur was about to make contact, they say the jingle bob was supposed to amplify that message. also, cows move away from high pitch noises so they are said to aid in that.
@lukecoomer93493 жыл бұрын
Not really. They're simply decoration; cowboys are fond of a little bling sometimes. Cattle and horses can hear the rowel just fine without a jinglebob, but a higher pitch noise actually won't help you much when working cattle.

The purpose of jinglebobs is to keep from spooking cattle and horses. They hear you moving around and they get used to the sound so do not spook.

Thank you for your video. I'm doing cosplay research and before I go into a shop, at least I know the proper terminology and what I'll be getting.

i have never been to an offical rodeo that alows sharp rowels due to most states deeming them inhumane. i have always been told if it can break the skin with minor to moderate pressure your out and banned from the competition for at least 1 year . rounded point ones work fine for every thing i ever done

Look for descriptions that expressly state a spur "ridge" or "shelf." The heels tend to be biased a certain way, so heel names like "horseman" or "buckaroo" as they tend to be suited for a spur.
@pitgroove.37_663 жыл бұрын
2:37 no, those look more like bareback bronc riding spurs more than bull riding spurs. And no, the Rowels on rough stock Spurs are not sharp at all, cuz we would get either disqualified or fined if they were.

I inherited my dad’s fancy bronze spurs, but they look dirty and the straps are destroyed. How can I clean them? Should I get new straps?, I don’t even know how to ride, but I want them to look nice again.

... there is such a thing as kid spurs? holy shit .-. ... but I'm planning getting the "humane spur" because I have a very lazy horse (she is 25 and she was left out in the pasture for so many years) therefore I can get her to pick up her pace. I don't really plan to bump her with the spur itself, but apply a little pressure sometimes when she needs to pick up her pace. It's hard to keep a balance on her during transitions or just trotting in general because I constantly have to kick her sides.
@12345harleyman6 жыл бұрын
Nikki B. Get a large dull rowl smaller rowls actually hurt more. It covers a larger surface area, so the pressure you are applying is spread out. Not in one place like bumper or small rowl spurs. Happy Trails to you and your horse.

you people that say Spurs don't make bulls buck don't know a thing about bullriding. if you think you do, then next time you are in the chute set your Spurs and see if he bucks, and good luck with that!
