Have mercy on me o God. Do not forsake the work of your hands. I am in great need of your deliverance. Your word says deliverance is the children's bread. I am your child, please deliver me. Amen

Psalm 70 70 Make haste, o God, to deliver me make haste to help me, O Lord. 2 Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt. 3 Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha. 4 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified. 5 But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O Lord, make no tarrying.

Some commentators note that not all the Psalms are of David. And David's life is recorded with some serious transgressions. This is something Spurgeon could have and possibly elsewhere does make note of. And in the NT the life of the apostle Paul with his pre-Damascus road experience signifies for some of us today. Is it possible that some, or possibly many, people today need to be more cognizant of what may be a contemptuous attitude of their 'calling' which seems to be, at least in part, the meaning of the teaching recorded by Jeremiah in the 18th chapter concerning the potter. When praying some of these passages come to mind and also the calamity in the garden of Eden makes me think that all people must first acknowledge as fact that of ourselves we would rather pursue our own interest and we are at times reluctant followers of Jesus. Possibly my perspective in this regard is 'complicated' by having been antagonistic toward religion possibly at age 9 or 10 and using alcohol and drugs fairly regularly around age 12. Some early impressions in Roman Catholic grammar school may also be 'complications' for perspective. But these factors may be something God uses to give insight as it seems that today 'many' people are what some people, and very likely Spurgeon, call 'nominal' Christians. Summing up; it seems we all need to admit that of ourselves we will not and cannot praise, thank or communicate in any way with God unless and at times until we first acknowledge the work of The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
