You've spent the entire season using him as a decoy or a playmaker, neglecting to create opportunities for him to showcase his finishing ability. And yesterday, you pushed him into a wing-back role, demanding intense defensive work and box-to-box running while still expecting him to score. Isn’t that too much? Why are you treating him like this? Is it because he’s a compliant Asian player? In games where Sonny looked likely to score, you subbed him off early under the guise of "managing his fitness," only to overwork him defensively in another match. Surely you realize that exhausting him like this will make his accuracy dulled when he needs to finish. Even Salah, at 32, is managed intelligently by Slot to stay focused on scoring, not dropping deep to defend.

im a data analytics consultant , and a spurs and ange fan , a few observations about tactics if i may, against man c , the team seemed to dial down the intensity and field position of the press a notch to cover off on man c 's transition threat . whether it was deliberate or not , the spurs mids where closer to the back 4 . than usual . heck press with 4, or run what i call a phased retreat press , where you are just trying to slow down the out ball rather than win a turnover , atleast against the better transitioning teams . the same respect shown to pep and man c , should have been shown to maresca and chelsea, and we would have been sitting here talking about a spurs win , secondly, despite my misgivings about the fine tuning in the spurs press , spurs do seem to be getting bodies behind the ball , but the organization in the defensive third is abysmal at times . i have a measurement which i call overload creation in the final third , that is how often does a team occupy space and create a numbers advantage in and around the 18 yard box . chelsea won that metric 11,2 first half , and 4,1 second half . spurs being on the losing end of this metric has been there all season , whats puzzling though , is if i can see it so should spurs data team and coaches , but i see no evidence of this on the field . if a zonal systems being used , it needs tweaking . show more respect in pressing, and fix the defensive overload problem , and spurs end up top 4, may be more . there is a lot of nuance and detail re all this that cant be covered here , so if anyone at spurs thinks its useful to have a chat , get in touch with me on facebook,
