Universal recycled their music library in an enormous variety of films. It seems that nearly every movie they made in the '40's has the same music. Especially, but definitely not limited to, their black and white horror movies.

*This was a better movie than many of the period because of the isolated setting with several interesting characters and good script. The print was sharp and the photography was excellent. One fault was the intrusive music in places. It was fine thriller with action.*

@@user-tb7nv7hj8k It's a movie. There was no microfilm. And there was no need to hurt any animals to film these scenes. I know in 1950 they were nowhere near as careful as they are now to avoid hurting animals, but since there was no need to hurt them, I'm sure it wasn't done. I saw another movie here on YT where some commentors were freaking out about a goose they thought had been killed, and saying they refused to finish watching the show because of it. The pretend-killing was done off screen of course. I thought to myself "How ridiculous they are!" because why would the director have a goose killed when it's not even part of the script?! But I'm not classing you with those people. There are a few people in every group who take whatever their goal is to incredible extremes, but that's only a few random nuts.

Yes, "panther" comes from the Latin "panthera," which simply means "leopard," and that comes from the Greek "panther." For some reason, the Anglicized "panther" has been restricted to mean a "black leopard." Today, the scientific genus "panthera" has an even wider meaning and includes all large members of the cat family (leopards: "P. pardus," jaguars: "P. onca," tigers: "P tigris," and lions: "P. leo." ("Black Panther" also has another meaning, of course, but that would be off topic.)

Unusual for a post-war film of the atomic era. Love it when Sam Spade KO’s Sherlock Holmes 😂. Plot points don’t fully connect up but maybe necessary portions or the film ended up on the cutting room floor.

Tranquilizer guns were invented in 1959. This movie is 1950, so that was not a possibility, unfortunately. I do share your sentiment here.

Good God! If I knew all these Brits were in the movie I never would have watched it. That accent goes through me just like taking a screwdriver and jamming in my eye
