I just ordered this knife in On Amazon , After many hours of research It came down to the mini griptilian or the manix . I am new to this hobby and As february 2016 This is the most expensive knife I have bought ever. I have several Kershaws and schrades for camping and hiking but this will be my light use edc knife. I have never handled a spyderco or benchmade or any other high end knife and I have high hopes for this tool. Thank you for the review, It was this video that made my final decision.

Ya manix 2 is one of the hardest to resist. Got a lightweight and liked it so much I immediately ordered a black blade/black G10 version. Currently restraining myself from getting the blurple model also. Will not be able to hold out forever.

A couple of weeks ago I got a sprint run manix 2, s90v, burl g10. Smooth as butter. I have a manix 2xl which is also very smooth. But I was so impressed with the ergos of the manix 2 that I ordered another manix 2, s30v, g10, all black. Don't want to use the sprint run version. Well, I got the new one yesterday and was very disappointed. The blade was extremely difficult to open and close. Started looking at reviews and forums and was convinced it just needed breaking in. I opened and closed it hundreds of times until I couldn't anymore, my fingers were so sore. I thought I would check the pivot screws. The show side screw loosened up easily. But the clip side screw was so over tightened that I was afraid to put too much torque on it for fear of stripping it. I contacted spyderco and they assured me they haven't used red loctite since sometime in 2016. Nevertheless, I heated up the screw with a hair dryer and used my Wiha little stubby torx driver which allows you to get a good deal of torque. I was finally able to get it loose. Kudos to Spyderco for using such solid screws. If it had been a Ganzo it would have stripped for sure. I got both pivot screws off and there was no loctite. I guess whoever assembled the knife must have had a fight with his wife that morning and took it out on that clip side pivot screw. I cleaned the screws, put on a little blue loctite, and retightened them, firmly but not with all my force. The blade now drops shut freely and spydie flicks easily. I've seen other reviewers state as you did, that you can't over tighten the pivot screws on the manix 2. Based on my experience this is clearly wrong! But I will say that the pivot screw I had the problem with wasn't just over tightened. It was obscenely tightened. I don't think Superman could have tightened it anymore than it was. I hope this helps anyone having a similar issue. I really do love the manix 2. Perfect size, ergos, blade came phone book paper cutting sharp. Don't know how I've missed your channel till now but I enjoyed your review and am a new subscriber. Thumbs up!

I've got one of those Ganzo 704's also, love it! If you like Spyderco's and the Spydie hole, and like the axis style locks, check out the Ganzo 729, its basically an axis lock paramilitary 2. Its cheap and pretty well made so i put a real good edge on it and i use it as my work EDC blade most of the time. I think youll like that one..

I agree that the axis style lock is probably the safest lock for closing a knife, but when I had my griptilian (it was stolen, $100 down the drain!) in my possession, i had the tip of my ring finer in the blade slot, and the blade came down and sliced a peice of my finger off. It was user error, but still something to consider. The blade comes down very fast.

Great review. I'm very seriously considering making this my next EDC as opposed to the Paramilitary 2, but I'm hesitant about that locking system. I'm assuming you've had the Manix for a few months now - how has the locking system played out for you so far? Regardless, thanks for the review.

like your review. i have owned this knife for few years i thought it was going to be top EDC also. for me the size is a bit big for office and such. 2nd the tabs took a year to break in(now are just right) which require one to press the knife in your hand and the smooth heal of the knife tends to slide (skate board tape) the last goes back to the size and weight make it just clunkey in hand and pocket not elegant . all stuff that bothered me over time (native 5 or a sage 3 carbon fiber seem to be better knives.but just me. love to see your long term use video on this one.

$90 ? lucky Americans, that knife is $180 in Australia. Even after you account for the currency exchange that's around $50 more, and we can't buy from the U.S and import it because customs will seize one handed opening knives.
@jimmygrey6848
@jimmygrey6848 8 жыл бұрын
***** Yeah they do, I've had packages ripped open and just taped back together by customs, and that was just for a simple black marker pen I ordered from the U.S. Customs use to do the "flick Test" to see if they can open a knife by flicking the blade out, and if they could it was deemed prohibited. Those regulations were changed last year though, I still won't risk it, I'd rather pay extra and be guaranteed to get the knife. It's pretty frustrating though when half the things prohibited for import are still legal to buy and own in the country.

ah no, you cant put a ball point pen spring in there, thats a heavy duty spring in there, i doubt it would even function, the spring would just pop out the inside of the knife, the ball point pen spring is no where near the stiffness and rigidity needed for it to stay in place.
