Dean....got a point there Dean......i just picked up a Ronin a month ago as well as a 2nd YJ2....i want a 1st gen YJ to have the entire run of that design.....BTW.. there's a GREAT vid on the evolution of theses knives with Michael presenting the history/origin....it includes a prototype that Janich made himself and a beautiful Custom by Mike Snody....gotta see it if you're into the Ronin/YJ.......title of vid is "evolution of Spyderco Yojimbo 2"

Ronin was the worst spyderco I bought..not so much the knife. But the worst sheath ever.

I saw a aluminium training knife go right through a guys hand at a training seminar, metal trainers are not safe for any heavy contact type training

For self defense，I think spyderco C07PS ，microtech UT tanto and emerson CQC-7 are better than C10 endura

i defended myself the other day with my spyderco and was locked up for second degree felony assault with deadly weapon, now pending 5- 16 years this is a fucking horror story, had to spend 50,000 for bail

Most people don't consider this when it comes to defending yourself with a knife. You can guarantee that the jury is going to show the weapon to the whole courtroom as well. People are generally scared of knives as is, even more so when you've got something that's only purpose is to maim or kill.

This is the very real reality of using deadly weapons for self defense , even if you are in the right the court fees are crazy

Trainers are good but they are not so important to limit your choice only to knives that have trainers. There are other things more important like speed of deployment and strength. If you are talking folders and you don't care about how the jury is going to see your knife in court, the best choice is a Cold Steel with Tri-Ad lock and Thumbplate because that's a strong and fast to deploy knife. If you care about how the court sees your knife then the Delica and the Endura would be good choices along with some knives of Benchmade like the Griptilian family. But that's only if you can't get used with fixed blades. If you can carry a fixed blade, that would would be the best option for speed, strength and reach, then a good fixed blade would the Spyderco Fred Perrin Street Bowie. Now if you can't carry blades with locks and one hand opening you better use a Tactical flashlight or a tactical pen. And of course, you should also practice a martial art.

If you can't carry a one handed opening knife, or a locking knife you probably also most likely can't carry a firearm. At that point a flashlight or pen isn't your best option, your best option is to stop being a slave change your laws, or move to a place that values freedom, & doesn't just treat you like a tax slave.

Weapons ARE tools though.. historically tools were very often used as weapons as well.
