I love the concept. I wish we could keep the concept but use a more conventional blade shape. I love how thin the handle scales. Keep the thinness and the no rust concept but give me a nice classic drop point. Imagine a no rust sabenza or a no rust bugout.

more conventional blade and handle shape, less than 3.5 oz, and and an lc200n pivot bushing for better action
@theknifeconnection95712 жыл бұрын
@@EdenOpher not sure how that would give it better action. Would like to feel what you're thinking that would feel like. Mine has spectacular action for washers. Most people don't realize. But with this knife the lock bar has so much pressure that's what is causing the slow glassy action. With my example I was actually able to take a good bit of that pressure away and mine shakes shut without much shake

The SpydieChef has the best ergonomics for me, out of any Spyderco I’ve tried so far, (more than a few). It does feel “right at home” in my hand. I can easily flick it open, (so plenty satisfying to open for me), and it’s just effortless and natural for me to use. Love the blade, and not just for food prep. The Chef is definitely my most refined EDC option right now, and I expect that it’ll always have a place in my collection. Ymmv

I have several titanium framelocks and more fidget friendly knives like PM2, Yojimbo, ceramic bearing flippers, and an axis lock. And the Spydiechef never leaves my pocket. The ease of carry and complete practicality of the blade and ergos make it my go to every time. And I love the unique looks as well.

When showing the competition, you'll clearly appreciate the blade thinness, strength, and usability for slicing of the spydie chef . It's not a fidget spinner and not a Bush craft knife. I enjoy using the Spydie Chef a ton.

Great review. I was already sold on this knife and was trying to find a review to send me on a different direction. I'm still sold. 💯 It will be my next knife.

I always liked the look of the Spydiechef, but I haven't picked one up yet

I’ve EDC’d this knife for a while and have a history of many others. The Chef is a GREAT DESIGN!!! The blade is the most functional design I have and it’s tactical too. MY ONLY CRITICISM,.. for what I paid for this knife I’d expect the grinder marks on the blade to be polished out or if not it should be lightly

I got my first one not too long after my first comment, I ended up buying a 2nd one.

So, is the Kapara better? I'm from those guys, that hate Spyderco looks and the hole on the blade. However I own handreds of knives, but not a single Spyderco and, the most weird, is that I love full flat grinds and good heat treats. What's turning me away from Kapara, is the feel of the smooth carbon handle and the fact, that most people said that the Spydiechef was better. Finally, which Spyderco, is better? I want something not heavy, can be easy to clean, one hand opening and an edge, that won't chip or roll easy. I know I'm asking a lot, but these are my needs, since I work near a beach, and most of the times, I am under time pressure, which means, that I have tried to cut a copper wire once in a hurry, that I thought it was a nylon cord! It was my Leathermans 420HC blade that day, that rolled like it was made of alluminum. Any suggestions, would be appriciated. Thanks in advance

I really like my Kapara. The feel in hand is exceptional, in my opinion. Also, the action on the CQI version is amazing. But S30V is not the most corrosion-resistant stainless steel.

This one is not my cup of tea. The latest Spyderco Slysz design, the SwayBack, looks more interesting to me. Still....nothing close to the Slysz Bowie.

I find myself welcoming the little bit of lockstick my spydie chef has. Makes it feel like such a rock solid frame lock. Just the right amount of stick.

I clean, dry and oil my blades, but I still bought a SplidieChef, CQI version. It is a good knife, but I don’t use it a lot. Still, it has a permanent place in my collection, as an occasional user.

Cqi version. How can I know if I buy the newest version???
@ScottieG593 жыл бұрын
@@jaysis9209 Spyderco has a 2 letter date code on the box. The CQI knife had black hardware and the ceramic detent ball. I found an article that describes both versions and includes comparison photos: www.itstactical.com/warcom/knives/spyderco-spydiechef-a-versatile-chefs-knife-in-your-pocket/

Some no rust budget knives in the budget end would be cool; even if they were in the kitchen knife style of blade.

Decent review! Totally agree with you on ZT0470 being is a way better Ti framelock folder, also it’s just more fun to fidget with since it’s a flipper on bearings. I really wish that Spydiechef were a flipper on bearings, with a steel lock insert and an overtravel stop, lc200n is not a bad steel but for sure m390 or cpm 20cv is on the next level.
@AlexanderSLeBlanc4 жыл бұрын
That completely defeats the purpose of this knife....the lack of bearings, steel lock insert and use of LC200N is all to make this knife worthy of being used in the ocean or kitchen setting. It is meant to be essentially rust proof.

I like Titanium just Not Spyderco's for some reason. I also like knives on the tactical side , even my smaller edc knives , tactical edc , this knife is like a food prep edc knife, although I do like LC200N this knife is just not my style .....👊 Be Safe ....😷

I love Spyderco, but to me that is a $175 knife not $220.

Slightly over hyped, but definitely completely overpriced. They must be paying 50 dollars a knife back to the maker for using the design, that's the only thing I can think of that would make this more than a 140 dollar knife. Flat slabs, sandblasted, one pass around the edges with a dinky little radius, huge hack cuts to make the lockbar, tiny little off the shelf pivot with associated insufficient washers ... Should satisfy your average forumite or instagram tumor, but man... What a crappy, tasteless, grey soup of a knife for 250 bones.
