Bought a used/pristine one of these at a $50 discount. Liked it so much that I just bought another NIB from DLT. The first is now my EDC, the second is a safe queen. Was literally just about to buy a Medford but, after handling this knife there was no need. IMO, the best thing Spyderco has brought to market in years!

TiCN is a common coating used on carbide machining tools like end mills and lathe tool inserts. If it's applied properly to this blade, I can't imagine a more durable coating.

Thanks for the info Tony👍
@RadDadisRad3 жыл бұрын
Yep, it’s specifically used to decrease surface friction and increase surface hardness not toughness. So the benefit is a tough edge with increased hardness.
@knifevideochannel46573 жыл бұрын
In some instances it's actually harder then DLC when properly applied! There's definitely a misconception in the community that TiCN is substandard to DLC in every way.
@wrjames383 жыл бұрын
@@knifevideochannel4657 I've noticed most think it's only a "notch" above powder/traction coating. TiCN is very durable and should last a very long time.

Definitely quite unique. I really like the blade coating almost a translucent black. Great review brotha 👍

Luv the new coating they are using hopefully we will see it on some other knives from Spyderco as well. I’m still hesitant to pull the trigger on this one tho, but every review on this newer version has been very positive. I might just have to get one. Great review thx 👍🏼

Wayne keep up the good work. I love your channel. I have been in the knife game for a year or so. I have learned a lot of from your channel and Metal Complex and Slicey. I know eventually your channel will grow and be just as big as the other guys. I absolutely refuse to watch Nick Shabazz, I know he is a good dude but I would rather drag my ball sack through a mile of broken glass and barbwire than hear his voice it makes my ears cry. Sorry about that rant. Keep up the great work

If it was around the 250 or under mark. I would've grabbed one but if I was going to drop 300 I'd just probably get another microtech. The new m4 smock wasn't even close to 300. The para 2 in 20cv is only 190 idk where they got 300+. I do like when they are ready to use and use hard though 😂
@sueschenosky90793 жыл бұрын
Great review! I agree about it looking like a "Tuff" user. I heard the blade coating looks a lot like gun "bluing", which would make it cool looking. A little high in price, but not outrageous. If it had titanium liner on show side, I'd be on it in a heartbeat. I like G-10, especially on a "worker" knife.

The way it’s angled it seems designed to just chop. Like a pocket kukri. I agree 315 is a lot for 3.3 inches of cutting edge. However compared to real pricey stuff, it’s not that bad. Pretty soon 315 bucks will be the new 150 bucks.
@stephenlukovich96483 жыл бұрын
315$ for crew wear and g10 tempting but he’ll know. Like the Adams’s large for 238$ is more like it.

Nope, Spyderco sends me nothing. DLT does support my channel, but that will never change how I review knives or my opinion of any product. By supporting my channel they definitely assume the risk of a negative review. I’m all honesty though, I can’t remember ever reviewing a Spyderco that I really hated… 🤷🏻♂️

…and it’s still available as I write this…that basically never happens. If this were in the $200 range, I would be having a very difficult time not buying it right now. Honestly, I understand the price though…$200 isn’t realistic. A big, weird, cruwear frame lock from spyderco. If it wasn’t for the blade finish, this would be 100% in my wheelhouse.
@richardhenry19693 жыл бұрын
I don't consider those big knives. The smallest blade I carry is 4 inches. I guess it's hard to get a knife bigger then 2 inches into skinny jeans. Also doesn't pocket jewelry demand a flipper. But what really turns me off is liner lock. Just asking to lose a finger with a liner lock.
@stephenlukovich96483 жыл бұрын
Never mind. I changed my mind after watching the video. Unlike Simone boials after watching the media give her a free pass. This nice ain’t weak.

@msharmall72983 жыл бұрын
Cru wear, g10, same garbage pocket clip, MADE IN TAIWAN for 300$?!? Yeah, absolutely not lmao. Typical spyderco, way overpriced. Also hate how they make a big blade but only half of it is usable. There is NO reason for a finger choil to take up cutting edge space when you have an actual abundance of handle to grip.
@havoc1zero3 жыл бұрын
I agree with everything you said except for the made in Taiwan part. The best spyderco’s come out of their Taichung factory.
@msharmall72983 жыл бұрын
@@havoc1zero Sure, I get that. I just think for the money, when it's an American company with an American plant, and they are charging American made prices, it shouldn't be made in their Taiwan plant. If Taiwan's factory is better, that's a whole other problem to me, not an excuse imo.
@msharmall72983 жыл бұрын
Also, one of the liners is stainless steel? Why on earth, on a 300$+ titanium frame lock knife, are they using steel for the other liner? G10, only one of the liners is titanium, on this expensive of a knife? What the hell is going on at Spyderco? Are they starving or is the designer just smoking crack?
@ulissesgonzalez14303 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but that is one of the ugliest knives I've ever seen lol
@msharmall72983 жыл бұрын
I often like ugly knives, if it's utilitarian. However they lost that aspect by having half an inch of unusable blade to give more grip area on a knife that already has a handle bigger than anyone's hands would ever be able to fill.
