An underrated entry in the series. It's quite on par with the first game (and is clearly superior to that abomination called SpyHunter: Nowhere to Run!). While the difficulty spike can be intimidating (take just a few shots and you're dead!), the challenge is satisfying once you gain some skill. Apart from a few bugs here and there, a somewhat rushed and anticlimactic final boss, and the need for some extra polish - I just don't see why it wasn't as popular as the original. Fun fact: "Angel Studios" was acquired by Rockstar and are now called "Rockstar San Diego". They developed Midtown Madness, Midnight Club, and the Red Dead series. They also worked on L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3 and GTA V. Their very first work was the Sega CD version of Ecco: The Tides of Time back in 1994.

From what I can see, I prefer the first game's sense of focus, and how well it sticks to the "stealthy spy" theme. 2 seems to contain more ideas, but it's more fitting for a destruction derby game from the looks of things. I do think it looks cool, but not in the same way as the first, and sometimes appearing to be trying too hard to be cool. I can't speak for others, nor say that's why it didn't gain as much of a following, but it's what I gather. Regardless, thanks for the longplay. Especially with the information you've shared, yours has been the most enjoyable to watch so far.

I remember this game from when I was a kid. Never managed to finish it. I remember those trucks that would follow you from behind. Those things would scare me, especially since they would be hard to destroy and would stop to kill you when you decided to stop.

I've got the first SpyHunter in which my dad bought it in 2004 at Best Buy even though the first Spyhunter came out in 2001 but played it all the way through till I finished the game in 2011 but I never got to play this 2nd game since I never saw this game at Best Buy during that time even though I was only 5 or 6 years old at the time.

Dude same here! I dropped the game at this point, it’s just you cant move carefully cause you’re on a timer. And when you move fast and reckless your car just tanks so much damage. I never finished this stage as a kid…

Any tips on the train area on big bad wolf? I can get all the cars destroyed but as soon as the engine itself is by itself it immediately pulverizes you in seconds.. This game was play tested? So the level before it you can beat the first time in 4 minutes and then when you get to the big bad wolf it takes 2 to 5 hours to beat that level? that seems like game balancing at its finest.

I remember fondly this entry in the franchise being heavenly criticised, swedish Gamereactor gave it 2/10. The controls were alot more clunky, you were more vulnerable and the mission design was alot less memorable then the first PS2 Spyhunter. While i do think this sequel was a step down in quality it still had it's moments. Like the epic boss fights.

@@Hellrot I still remember it looking pretty bad on the PS2 as well. I really just think that the SpyHunter game from 2001 was superior to this, gameplay wise, graphics wise, and I just think the car was cooler. This seemed more like a rushed cash grab IMO. But so did the 2005 GBA port of the 2001 SpyHunter, too. Still, I'd be interested in playing this. Where did you go to get the emulator for this? I'd love to give this and the 2001 game a go again.
