If you want your Spyro games to last forever, play them on a PS2. I have all 3, including the very first Spyro before it came out on Greatest Hits, and they still play just like new, even more than a decade later :)

The only level with a truly unique power up - Ice Breath. Even Metropolis' double powerup got reused in Ripto's Arena, but the ice breath, in this incarnation? Totally unique. Shame that it wasn't used more; it was a pretty cool power to have available even if it was technically just for freezing fire trolls (who also showed up as one of Scorch's egg goons as suicide bombers in 3)

I love this stage music and how you have to fly to the next parts of the stage, I also remember how fustrating it was with agent Zero and somehow my friend conviced me that it's was probably a cool hideout he was at, then when I finally got there... Biggest upset with me and my friend XD good times

I remember I got this game shortly after it came out. I was only about 4 or 5 at the time. I remember being stuck on the Crush boss for the longest time. I would just start the game over and over when I got to that boss since I could never beat it. And this level was in those short demo videos that would play after the start screen and I would be so mad that I couldn't get to it because I was so intrigued with that super freeze power up haha

Here's what is the best about the Spyro games, in my opinion. Spyro 1 - Original, Music, Gameplay, Story Spyro 2 - same as above (IMO best spyro game). Spyro 3 - same reasons as in Spyro 1. Spyro: ETD - Huge levels, Unique minigames, Music. (but it was too short) Spyro: Hero's Tail - Music, Gameplay, Bigger Than ETD. (but it was too cartoony) TLOS: A New Beginning - Music, Story, Decent Gameplay. (but the combat system was too blocky and rough)

In general, I think that playing spyro the dragon, spyro 2 ripto's rage, and spyro 3 year of the dragon, all 3 of those played in sequence are a masterpiece- and you can stop at 3 and play again. After 3 is PS2 versions, and the greatness has a change. Get a 3-set if you can, buy or borrow. I got the full set myself. Note: don't make the mistake I did with FF7; the tradition of ps1 games on ps1 should die- Play on a PS2, it is compatible and dont eat your disks like ps1.
