The game itself is pretty good but this bossfight is the best part, the more fun to play and the more epic, it also has the best soundtrack in the game. I think Ripto is harder than any other platform boss (in a child perspective). When i was a child back then i never could beat ripto, the flyng battle with the lava was too much for me so my big brother beat him. It's a pity, this bossfight is greater than people give credit for.

A part of me thinks it's actually fitting. Ripto plays himself up as this dangerous threat, but because of his stature, hilariously short and violent temper, and the fact that since gulp swallowed his scepter in the opening cutscene, he and crush are ripto's ONLY firepower. Only real thing he could do was change the castle flags. Gnasty Gnorcs' theme was also really lighthearted.

I remember as a kid, my mom didn't particularly like the fact that I spent hours playing this game. I was playing this level and pretty so soon my whole family including my mom joined. And I lost the fight and was crying hysterically. My mom comforted me and let me play another time. And I won. The next day I realized it was just a stupid level. But I'll never forget what my mom did. As a kid, you can do anything if your mom is by your side. Even now as an adult too.

I remember this game well. Ripto, despite being shown to be a coward earlier turns out to be the hardest boss in the game. For me, Gulp was a big jump in difficulty after Crush. The music made the battle very climatic.

Yeah, I somewhat agree with you. The only part of Ripto's battle that I could consider difficult is the part where he's on that big bird. I don't know if it's just me, but sometimes, it can get rather difficult to aim for him, dodge his attacks, and try not to come in contact with the lava all at the same time. What's funny is that they did this again for the secret boss in Year of the Dragon. The only difference was that the hover board was a little more difficult to maneuver than just flying with Spyro, and Ripto was a bigger target.
