I feel like this was a proof of concept that led to Ratchet and Clank. Especially with the way Agent 9 runs is really similar to Ratchet

But why wasn't strafing implemented in the first Ratchet and Clank when it was done already here? Made things a fucking pain at times

@@WhyTheHellDoYouExist because people didn't really know how to use both analogue sticks at the same time in that era. Not to mention it would have ended up requiring the use of a Dualshock controller with its 2 analogue sticks, which was _NOT_ standard on the PS1, and many many many people didn't have one, they only had the default controller which just had the 1 d-pad and that's it, no analogue sticks. And so tons and tons of people wouldn't be able to play these sections and so wouldn't be able to beat the game as a result, being essentially softlocked. It was only when the PS2 came out that dual analogue sticks became standard as the default controller that the console came with.
