Early findings into the extreme turbulence on Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 have been released. It showed that quick and sudden uncommanded altitude changes likely caused injuries. There were also rapid changes to gravitational or G-forces. More than a hundred passengers were hurt, and one died from a likely heart attack. Singapore Airlines said it has acknowledged the findings of the investigation and is cooperating fully with authorities. May Wong reports live from Bangkok.

CNA, why don't you apologise here for repeatedly giving incorrect information in previous news reports, for example wrongly reporting that the airplane was "free falling for 6,000 feet". Such incorrect reporting repeated after I had already pointed out in the comments that this was an incorrect interpretation of the flight data, as the 6,000 feet descent was regarding a controlled descent to a new flight level which took about 6 minutes

In this context, uncommanded means a change in the aircraft attitude (pitch/bank) which is not a direct result of pilot input. This is usually due to sudden severe turbulence or windshear. In very rare cases, it is technical fault. The pilots going back to autopilot is not a problem as the problem wasn’t even related to the autopilot in the first place. Also, the autopilot was re-engaged after the aircraft had been stabilised by the pilots.

I doubt that will happen as so far, SIA is keeping them silence and away from the public. Pilots are the one people only this planet know what happen but SIA will keep them away for sure. Pilots name have been kept as a secret also......but someone will dig and dig. Confirm sure can find trace of their names.......as there will be kaypoh people who are the pilot's friends won't be able to keep secret for sure. It's sooner or later we will know the actual truth. The more SIA try to delay, the more curious other media will be. Waiting for the biggest news of the year to blow out of proportion...........soon!

The 6,000 feet descent happened after the turbulence. It was a controlled descent to a new flight level (from 37K to 31K ft.) towards BKK and took about 6 minutes. So there was no 6000 ft drop; that was complete nonsense.

The flight crew made a controlled descent to a new flight level. 2) How to know: you a plane constantly broadcasts lots of flight data, such as elevation, air speed, vertical acceleration and lots more. It is called ADS-B. Some receive and record this. You could have googled this

Reuters' explanation is that the aeroplane SQ321 had a 54-metre (178 feet) altitude (height) drop in 4.6 seconds, causing people not wearing seat-belts to be airborne ("flying" in air) and then falling down, resulting in their injuries.

I want to know who were the Pilots, local, new citizens, PRs or foreign hired hands. Wide body planes don't just fall 6,000 feet due to "natural" turbulence and when such a rare event occurs, usually there many other factors associated with it, including human "errors" that may include culture and ethic habits.

There are many questions and so far very few answers. Just plenty of conjectures presented as facts in the media. All we know for a fact is that the plane suddenly lost altitude, which caused injuries and damage. Then descended to an emergency landing in Bangkok. Even the "clear air turbulence" is only a theory at this point. What`s really insane is the media frame the story in such a way as to almost suggest that the "severe turbulence"" was brought about by the passengers who did`t wear their seatbelts, which they should have done even though the seat belts sign was off.
