I agree that generally the SQ8 is the better camera. There are a couple of points though where the SQ9 does have advantages. I notice on the road shots that SQ9 seems to have a slightly wider field of vision. Also in the sound shots Geeeky your image is more defined on the SQ9. This also applies to when you park your car. The registration plate of the car in front is clearer. However I reiterate that the SQ8 is better overall. Thank You

There seems to be a problem with both of the cameras. They make it appear as if you're driving on the wrong side of the road. Just kidding. Thanks for the your videos on these cameras. Helped me to decide.

I bought a mini spy cam years ago. (not SQ8/9) After 3 weeks I realised there was a very small lens protector on it and its picture was the same like the SQ9 in this video. Without the protector it had the same "good" picture like SQ8.

The SQ9 is blueish and more zoomed, so you can read that 1 number plate longer, but if you look at them at the end it's like the 9 needs it's lens adjusted because it's a touch out of focus.

Hi, thanks for the review! I have a couple of questions: 1) is it possible to record 24h without interruptions when it's charging over USB? 2) Does it automatically override the old footage with new one when the SD Card is full? 3) Does the IR automatically turn on when it's dark outside? Because of vandalism I'd like to install it inside my car to monitor the surroundings 24h/24h day AND night plugged into a power bank over USB. Can I do this with this cam ? Thank you!

SQ8 for the win. Just in clarity alone. Last shot of the outside video theres a sticker in the rear window of the car parked in front. SQ8 can read the sticker/ SQ9 there's a sticker?

I prefer the SQ8 overall too, but i do think there is some rain covering on that side, which makes the sticker look like that. Look back when im driving upto that car and you'll see.

купил эту камеру у китайцев и пожалел. Дело во включении съемки. Все обычные видео камеры во время видеозаписи показывают, по разному, что запись осуществляется. Что происходит с этой мини камерой-запись не сопровождается световым сигналом и т.о. непонятно-идет запись или нет. включена камера на запись или она вовсе не работает. Это не просто какой то недостаток-это крах всей работы. Например-я сделал по инструкции подготовку к включению и после по инструкции нажимаю кнопку, индикатор тухнет и я совершаю съемку. Я думаю, что идет съемка, но во время съемки ничего на камере не светиться, после, затратив время я камеру по инструкции отключаю. А потом сбрасываю на комп видео файл и нахожу, что камера мой сюжет не записывала. Вы только себе представьте-какое расстройство на эту камеру, в которой шиворот навыворот сделали определитель ее работы, чем в нормальных камерах. Это не минус, это минусище и если бы моя воля, я ее бы вернул обратно китаезям, но уже прошло пару месяцев. П.э. все те дифирамбы, которые поются ей-не имеют уже никакого смысла-если нет уверенности, что запись осуществляется.Короче-не советую эту камеру и всем о ней буду рассказывать.

I think you might be able to squeeze an hour at it, but thats pushing it lol. The one I had worked for a long time, it's just bad luck if you get a bad one. Like you say its only $12

I don't know about the SQ9, but on the SQ8- you hookup your cam to your computer and create a TIMERSET.TXT file. Here are instructions on what to type in the file. Format for the timerset.txt file (Y, M, D, H, M, S) example: 20150908182568 Y after save the text file.For the 'seconds', just put 00 (zero zero)
