Really cool stuff. Thanks a lot! Note for those interested (6:57): it is possible to have a group by over "Over" functions. In such case, the Over line would just need to have twice the aggregated function: SUM(SUM(Qty*UnitPrice)) OVER (ORDER BY ProdName) as RunningTotal .. + GROUP BY at the end

Could you please tell me the difference btwn row_number() and rownum. All I know row_number() is analytical func and rownum is a pseudo column but when to use these both?

not exactly, check your SQL version. This feature is supported SQL 2012 and onwards. Check your version using select @@version. A lot of time, I find people taking sql management studio version as SQL version, which is totally wrong.

Hi Kbor, yes these are mainly to teach building blocks of complex queries. If you want, I do provide training in query optimization, which include actual product optimization. Example content covered is spooling operator, hash match, partition elimination, non sargable queries, bad views, etc.
