SQL Joins: Difference Between Inner/Left/Right/Outer Joins

Join/Inner Join = Keep only that which matches Left join = Keep every thing from left table, only matches from right table Right join = Keep everything from right table, only matches from left table Outer join = Keep everything

Thanks for all animations and grate narration, I think we can improve on the mental model of your presentation, especially for outer joins. Inner Join 1. Cartesian product created 2. Keep rows matching condition (USING/ON) Left Join 1. Cartesian product created 2. Keep rows matching condition (USING/ON) 3. Left join (add back left table unmatched rows, assign them to null) Most important part is that every JOIN starts with Cartesian product, then some filtering + variation
