As a Database Administrator, it's uncommon that you'll see Active Directory Domain Services. However, it's important that you understand common terminology and how to troubleshoot issues with SQL Server that are domain related.
In this video I cover how to setup ADDS in your sandbox environment, join 2 servers to the domain, and the troubleshoot service principal names (SPNs) along with kerberos errors.
We'll troubleshoot and resolve the following errors you may encounter as a DBA:
SQL Server is attempting to register a Service Principal Name (SPN) for the SQL Server Service.
Kerberos authentication will not be possible until a SPN is registered for the SQL Server Service.
The SQL Server Network Interface Library could not register the Service Principal Name (SPN).
