SQL Server table and index partitioning improves manageability of very large tables and facilitates nearly instantaneous load/purge/archive processes with partition-level operations. However, table partitioning may also introduce query performance regression when not used wisely. This session reviews table partitioning architecture, strategies, best practices, common gotchas, and mistakes.
