Terrance and Phillip is a not very subtle parody of the South Park series, and there was an episode in one of the earlier seasons about how, despite being made for adults, "concerned parents" continued to criticize it for being a bad influence on children - shifting the blame for their own failings on education. I remember watching a video about how that episode was a reaction to similar backlash suffered by South Park, and that the movie further explored this subject. Unfortunately, I was not able to find the source right now. However, the Wikipedia page does mention that the film also parodies and satirizes "controversies surrounding the series itself" and that the creators "decided to write a personal, fully committed musical" Anyway, my main point was that the series has suffered plenty of backlash over the years, and that "cancel culture" is not exactly a new phenomenon.
