Hi, katzenpapa, did you know , as long as your OWN chess pieces have some weight to them, you can use a foil dot or square as little as 5mm ,stuck to the bottom of them , on the centaur !!!

Something to know about King Performance is that the computer play is very customizable. It has adaptive play modes. It has fun modes where the computer makes mistakes. It has fixed ply modes. You can control the speed, slowing it down. You can probably setup something like the Chessmaster personalities, by customizing various behavior. It does have an internal battery, but they do sell the Chess Volt, a battery pack. The Bluetooth module is also sold separately which is annoying. I really like that you will never need to use a mobile phone or tablet to play chess on the King.

This was a much needed video thank you! I was debating between the square off pro and the dgt pegasus and now I realize how big the square off pro really is when you put the laptop on top of it. For someone with IOS I think the best option (if you want a smaller board) is to wait for the millenium eONE which is supposed to be coming out this month or the chessup which I heard got pushed till april.

Nice comparison! Does your pegasus board wobble in some areas? My unit seems to have the panel detached in some inner areas, making it look unsteady while moving pieces.

If you are going to play online go with the Chessnut Air. If you plan to play offline only go with the DGT Centaur.

Millenium is definitely the board that looks to last a fairly long time. But tech is lacking. Even the lower end boards have piece sensing tech so I don't understand why they use the pressure sensing tech like 70's and 80's like Fidelity or Excalibur boards. I also think the board should have AI built in so you don't always have to start the app on your mobile device. Sometimes I just want to play a quick game without having to launch the app on the phone keep it running while playing a game.

Millenium does have a piece sensing board. It's more expensive, and the computer is not internal. After a lot of research, I did choose the King Performance. Why? Well, it's closest competitor is the Centaur. Which does have piece sensing. But I preferred the high customizability of the King Perf. And the wooden look. There's a ton of options for electronic boards and chess computers, so buyer's should do their homework. Do they want a standalone, that's not dependent on having a phone, tablet, or separate compute module? Plastic or wood or a wood look? Price. Do they want to be able to play online with the board? etc.

At this time there is no app for that that I am aware of. However, if you both were friends on chesscom or Lichess, maybe you somehow matchup with the different boards.

in a few vids of the so pro it almost seemed like the roll out board doesn't lay 100% flat, is that an issue at all for ya?

No, I never had any problems with the board not laying flat enough.

On the apps page usually tells you the minimum required version of operating system. I'm assuming you probably could use Android 5 to use the app.

I would say you might want to look into the Square Off Pro as a beginner for now, since at least you can play with it offline with the AI, and do position set and learn from that. Also, the Chessnut Air is coming. If you have not seen that yet check out my videos regarding that unit. I hear that the iOS app for the Pegasus maybe is not ready yet. Hope this helps!

Honestly they all have something to offer. The Pegasus is good and suspect will only get better. And just remember if you do try to use it with the chess dojo app with it for some reason, at least what I think, you have to keep the board actually plugged into the power source for it to not like go to sleep and disconnect from the chest dojo app.

@@katzenpapa I chose Pegasus because it's cheap, small, plug-and-play and primarily with online gaming in mind. When I have more space and money, I'll think about Millenium products. And until then, I can use my Novag Citrine for games with engine.

What ELO RATING DOES EACH ONE HAVE?

They all can have max ratings of 2500-3000 elo (some of the boards need third party apps), but can be adjusted to many lower levels.

Great video..answered some of my questions…..I own a few boards….mainly vintage stuff….from pocket sized 80’s kasperov ‘s to DGT usb + pi ….really like the millennium too…and might get the DGT centaur connected whatever its called for some ‘live’ play….i think next i would like a mid sized portable board…and it’s tempting to go plastic DGT but i also really want a certabo paired with a da Vinci - what are your thoughts..??
