Anyone notice that the Mathnret patrol car is an actuall LAPD black and white?! The door has the emblem but it was changed to say MATHNET? Very cool.

2 years before Yeardley Smith started doing the voice of Lisa Simpson (so far 27 seasons), she starred in these Mathnet episodes.

These videos bring me such nostalgia! Thank you for posting something that immediately transforms me back into a little kid again. One thing I'm noticing only just now is that during the Mathnet episode, their calculation on the number of combinations for the combination lock is actually a little off. If there are 36 numbers on a lock, it is true that the first number has 36 possibilities. However, the second number cannot equal the first number. Which means the second number only has 35 possibilities. Finally, the last number cannot be the same as the second number, which means the 3rd number has 35 possibilities again. (I don't remember if all 3 numbers on a combination lock must be unique. So if it turns out that they do, then the 3rd number actually only has 34 possibilities.) In other words, the number of combinations is either 36*35*35 or 36*35*34. Not 36*36*36. I get that this show is targetted mostly for kids, so they probably were just trying to keep things simple. Still, it's one of those details that I felt they could have pointed out, just to give the audience a little more credit. (And I'd like to believe Kate and George would have figured that out too.) Still love this show!!!!
@ThatBetchEllie

No they don't have to be unique you can have 2 of the same number in your combo not sure about in the 80s but now a days you can make all 3 the same number.... I loved this show so much as a little girl mathnet was my favorite bit

It wasn't until the 2000s (after the Disney movie) that I had enough interest to look up anything about the Tarzan books, so of course I never made the connection that 'Jane Rice Burroughs' was a combined reference to Tarzan's wife and the books' author (which makes the 'Tarzana' reference all the more obvious). Also, shout-out to the kid in the map segment who was Nick in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Also, LOL Fay Wray.

The girl in Mathnet was a guest on Mama’s Family 1986 episode “Where There’s Smoke” the escapee in Bubba’s Juvenile Hall. However, her voice is a few years off for Lisa Simpson. That character did not appear until the Simpson’s premiered in 1989.

This was a variety show. Variety shows were more common in the 70s and 80s, SNL is a legacy variety show from the 70s. This originally broadcasted on PBS from 87-94 though 93-94 were just reruns (unfortunately). It did broadcast for a while on Noggin from 99-03 but that was only in reruns.
