The Mathnet Segment about Irving and Jake Karamazov had to be one of the most popular segments, SQUARE 1 actually ran it 3 times in Season 1. Kenneth Huang 3/24/23.

HMM... When Mathman correctly identified 3/4 was not smaller than 1/2 the center display X’d 2/3 as incorrect which it is. Then the display zoomed out said 3/4 as the response! Talk about a “Glitch” in this game!

Well, I've got the game figured as a, well, glitchy beta version. I've seen three game-breaking bugs. In one of the Glitch segments both paths to a correct answer are blocked by wrong answers (Glitch eats one of those), in one of the polygon segments there are only two correct answers but the game fails to notice that Mathman ate them both and Mathman proceeds to eat a wrong one, and in the decimals greater than 1 segment Glitch goes after Mathman right away.

For some reason, I always pictured a version of this episode with a dark ending: George forgets the information about the weather that prevented him from flying back to L.A., and, despite his endless protests that he's innocent, is fired from Mathnet and sent to prison for life. And in true Chinatown style, the episode ends with Chief Greene telling George "Forget it, George. It's Mathnet".

This Mathman segment was initially the PROTOTYPE mission. Evidence of that is seen in the Square One TV opening sequence. Also, Mathman and Mr. Glitch had early designs before they became what they are now.

Incidentally, the penal code for "Impersonating a mathematician" being 3.1416 is a take-off of "Pi;" its value being 3.1415... roughly.

Keeping in mind that the real George was tied and gagged in a closet, Irving (and Jake) must've felt that with George out of sight, by Irving admitting "George's" guilt, the real George might have later been convicted sending him to prison and letting the brothers get away scot-free.
