Fascinating phenomenon, and not just for the sound. Consider: a) if you move a rock away from the field (take it home, to a lab, etc) the effect no longer occurs. b) these rock fields, both in Pa and Montana, are notably free of undergrowth, insects and larger birds and mammals. c) Such rock fields are usually the result of landslides, but these are found on the tops of hills and elevated spots, 8-15 feet deep with just rock. d) Near as I can tell from a 4 minute Google research project, there are only four or five such fields IN THE WORLD, a few in Pennsylvania and a couple in Montana. e) the rocks can be used in lieu of a Voight-Kampff Test machine when identifying replicants. Normal humans will say "Whoa! That's way cool!", replicants will observe "Those people are hitting rocks." Of course, this latter response also identifies derptarded humans, but why be picky?

I lived a few miles from ringing rocks, and we had (a couple) rocks in our backyard that had the same effect. It was told to us to be water inside the rocks that held the vibrations and gave the sound. Most of what we heard through the video was "tinks" and not quite the ringing my hometown is famous for (not the artists fault, ears and sound equipment are far different). Still, this was impressive.
