Thanks for this video! It helped me replace my worn out plug too on my truck.

Hi, I have the same issue, I replaced my battery, alternator, ground cables. According to my multi meter everything is working and battery is charging. But I still show low voltage on my gauge. Did your gauge jump back up to 14?

Hi, replacing the alternator plug did fix the issue for me. Voltage is around 13/14, but only with the engine running.

What type of battery you running in your 85? I have a 79 and it was working fine then it just died and now when I try to turn it over it sounds like it's dead and not getting the power it needs

My truck is an 80, it has some weird Euro brand calcium battery in it, made by Yuasa. If your engine died while driving it could be your alternator (or wiring) as well. Battery should be getting recharged by the alternator while driving, so it has enough juice to start anytime (except if it sat for years or when a battery is old and therefore not holding a charge anymore)

Did this end up fixing the problem? About to do the same thing

Yes, it did fix the issue for me! But I still have the refurbished alternator lying on a shelf, just in case. Good luck, it’s a small and relatively easy fix to try before you order a new alternator (lesson learnt!)

One question bro, we’re both wires the same gauge or was one gauge wire bigger than the other?
@WrenchAtHome Жыл бұрын
I’d say the red wire is slightly thicker, but the difference ain’t much.. that is going off the Amazon product image (link in video description). If you really want to know I can measure them for you.

@@WrenchAtHome well did it fix your charging issue? What was happening to it?

Yes, replacing the plug fixed my problem!

@@WrenchAtHome so on my Malibu the red wire is thicker than the black one, my question is, on the new plug do the wires have to be the same gauge on the harness or not?
@WrenchAtHome Жыл бұрын
Same gauge would be best, yes. If the wires on the plug are thicker then that’s okay too, as long as they are not thinner than the wires in your car you’re good. The plug I used is an official replacement part so as long as your wiring in the car is stock the part should work just fine!
