Hi Becca Thank you so much for this tutorial. I only have one question: Do I manually have to add the sidebar to each blog post, or is there a way for it to automatically always appear on every blog post? TIA 💚Minna

Such a rad trick right!? We can get even more advanced and set up categories for posts and then filter the summary (blog sidebar, course sidebar, etc) but I'll save that for another video 😉 Glad you liked this one!

Hey Becca, question for you. Is there a way to Templeton is this. Can I create a blog post template where my client can simply duplicate and swap out the Contant? Also, wondering if there’s a way to edit the button title text per blog post. For instance, if I want the side bar to be sticky and link to a section on the article.

Great question! You can create a template post and leave it in "draft" mode, and then have your client duplicate it and change the content. It's what I do for my tutorials week after week so i don'd have to recreate the table to contents every time 😉

Hi, Becca!... Absolutely LOVE this tutorial! Brilliant as always... One question: Maybe I am missing something, but it appears that the code would also alter the design of all summary blocks used in a blog? Is that correct?... If so, how could we target the code to only apply to the summary blocks we are using specifically as a side bar?... Denise ✨😎✨

Thanks - glad you like this one - and great question! You can target the specific summary with a block id. Here is a tutorial with more info: insidethesquare.co/squarespace-tutorials/css-targeting-tricks

thank you! any tips on adding social icons (or an image) and text? like on this website?

Great question! For text, you can add an additional blog post in your summary sidebar blog and use the title/excerpt to display the text. For the social icons, you can add any content blocks above or below the summary. I hope that info helps and best of luck with your project! :)

Hi, Becca! Many thanks for this. I'm noticing 'Missing opening '{'. Any ideas? 😀💻

Sounds like you have an extra } - you need a pair to close code! Check your lines to make sure every { has a }

@@InsideTheSquare sorry to bother you again, but I've checked for the '{' and copied your code to the letter, but still no joy. When I remove the code, my css shows no errors. I'm at a loss as to where to go next with this. I really don't want to have to remove it. Any thoughts? Many thanks, Jane

So, I am a confused here. When you do this code change, is it applied to every single blog post you’ve already made? Or, like in the last couple minutes of your video do you have to go in and add the summary block individually to post one by one? If it’s the first one, than that is amazing. If it’s a second one, then it’s gonna suck, because my blog has more than 500 posts, and I would never go through every single one and add this. Can you tell me that hopefully it’s the first one, that it university applies to all posts?

This is a content block like any other and it only shows up where you place it; it wont retroactively be added to every old post. For your situation, I would recommend looking into the sidebar plugin from Sqsp themes. This will create an automatic one for you on every post so you don't have to manually edit all 500+ Here is my affiliate link to that plugin: transactions.sendowl.com/stores/9476/187099

That's so helpful to know, thank you, Becca. You are an unending fountain of wisdom and helpful advice. I think I'm gonna go buy your code repository on notion, not so much because I'm gonna use it a lot but because I want to support what you're doing.
