This is very interesting and hard to decide. What would you recommend for an online publication which will feature lengthy articles, photos, typically interview videos and audio recordings say about 40 minutes long?
@tooltester11 ай бұрын
Hi! Either platform would work well for this purpose. I recommend trying out Squarespace first, as it could save you from a lot of technical hassle. If you find that it doesn't have all the features you need, you can always switch to WordPress.

What about a mental wellness incorporated with lifestyle blog ? Would you recommend squarespace or Wordpress? I want to easily post creative content such as short and long stories with high quality pictures and videos to support grief management
@tooltester Жыл бұрын
Hi there :) Both options would work for this kind of blog, however if you'd like to have it easy, Squarespace would be the better option. It's way easier to use than WordPress, which you need to set up yourself and which requires a bit of programming knowledge. With Squarespace, hosting, domain and all the software updates are included and you can start creating your website and content straight away. They are really good for blogging and have visually appealing templates that make it easy to present picture and video content in a nice way.

Lovely video! Thank you! - Which of these would you suggest for someone who owns and runs a small boutique hotel business?
@tooltester Жыл бұрын
Thanks Edward! I'd say WordPress, mainly because of its flexibility, and the fact that it lets you connect to a huge range of relevant plugins (bookings, Tripadvisor etc) - Squarespace is much more limited in that respect. But Wix Hotels is another option worth checking out - you can read more about it in our article: www.tooltester.com/en/blog/wix-hotels/

I'm looking to create a website offering death doula services and educational workshop offerings. I want to upload video series on specific topics, and some series will be free and other series will have an associated cost so I’ll need a paywall of sorts that once paid it’ll open up immediate access to the videos. Do you happen to know if that’s doable on Squarespace?
@tooltester Жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, that definitely sounds like something Squarespace is able to do. You might find this blog post interesting, where we discuss Squarespace's membership features: www.tooltester.com/en/blog/best-membership-website-builder/#1_Squarespace

Hi, this was great thank you! In your opinion which would be a better option for a digital storefront for a builders supply store?
@tooltester10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it! If you don't mind putting in a little extra work, WordPress is the more flexible option and can also save you money in the long run. But Squarespace is ideal if you want to get online faster and want a great-looking site without too much effort. It really all comes down to what's more important to you.

How about a website for a Film and TV production company that wants to sell merchandise, as well as a book series, and create a members' space for exclusive videos and behind-the-scenes?
@tooltester Жыл бұрын
Hi Anne. You could do that with both tools. Squarespace offers a membership area and ecommerce features for selling online. They have visually appealing designs, what makes them very suitable for image-focused professions. With WordPress you can generally achieve almost everything you want, by installing the right theme and plugins. However it's a bit more difficult in terms of ease-of-use since it's more techy, and you have a steeper learning-curve than with a website builder. You're also more flexible though, since you're not bound to a website builder provider. You can find more info here: www.tooltester.com/en/reviews/squarespace-review/ www.tooltester.com/en/website-with-wordpress/ If you'd like to check out another website builder like Squarespace, you could also have a look at Wix. Their tool is easy-to-use and flexible, plus they offer loads of features, ecommerce and membership area included: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rofZeGaBhJueeaM www.tooltester.com/en/reviews/wix-review/ I hope this helps! I wanted to know which one is best for a digital agency?
@tooltester Жыл бұрын
Hi Daveeda! What sort of features are you looking to add to your site? If you want something that can get you online quickly and looks great, Squarespace is the better option. But if you're looking to add more complex features (e.g. appointment booking) and want something more customized, WordPress would be my pick. More information in our full comparison: www.tooltester.com/en/blog/squarespace-vs-wordpress/

If you don't mind spending a little bit extra then I think Squarespace is actually well set up for this kind of site! You can get a great-looking site created quickly, with very little hassle. However WordPress is ideal if you want to save a bit of money and don't mind taking the time to get to know the platform. We have an article on the pros and cons of both for a photography website, if you'd like to learn more: www.tooltester.com/en/blog/best-website-builder-for-photographers/

Wordpress’ block editor is crap - you have to download the plug in for the classic editor and you have to pay subscription for that, so I’m considering, after 10 years, moving somewhere else…
