Holy cow, this is amazing. A standout among even your usual standout work.

Thanks! I listened to it again and now wish I hadn't sold some of the ROMs in my XL7 -_- Whoops.

Thanks for the kind words :) Yes, it is working fairly normally... but I'm not too happy that Squarp has not responded in over a week to me regarding my issues.

Gorgeous track as always. I just got a MP7 and have been absolutely loving the broad range of percussion samples available. Seems like there's something for every occasion. Sounds like the XL7 has some nice sounds aboard as well.
@MIDERA2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. There’s no difference between sounds in the XL7 v PX7 v MP7. It depends only on the Roms inside. I have both the Xlead (XL7) and mo’phatt (MP7) Roms in my unit. Just like the first MP7 I owed. Definitely has a lot of great sounds in it.

Blimey, still got a command station! I ended up moving mine on and fitting the extra roms in a Proteus 2000 so I've still got it from a synth point of view. Also see the Spectralis still about, just dug my Mk1 out.
@MIDERA2 жыл бұрын
I’m on my third emu 🤦♂️. They sound so nice but the sequencer sucks. The Spectralis is still the best!!!’
@gonzinigonz2 жыл бұрын
@@MIDERA That's why i picked up the Proteus 2000. I fitted a X-Lead rom and the 3 others i brought for the XL-7. Hopefully get a play with the Spectralis over the weekend, not touched it in a while. I ended up with a Akai Force as well which is a bit bonkers on many levels.

I picked up a Pyramid a few weeks back, i kinda forgot about them so thought give one a go. I'm still trying to learn the basics, printed the manual out and everything. I had an XL7 for a while a few years back but ended up with a P2000 and stuffed the roms in that so i still had the synth engine with the patches. Just thinking about pairing the P2000 with the Pyramid to get the XL7 back 😆
@intermodal_02 ай бұрын
@@gonzinigonzthe command station’s sequencer is great, but nothing compared to the pyramid. I think your p2000 with the pyramid is the way to go; with the p2000 you can make use of the midi a and b output on the pyramid, unlike the command station which “only” has 16 channels of midi available.

@MIDERA2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've still got my RS7000 and it's great, but it's not quite as nice to sequence as the Squarp is. RS7000 is nice all by itself though!
@phoenixloop2 жыл бұрын
But dat midi delay, loop remix, and play fx section! Those are why the grey beast is still on my desk. That and nostalgia, lol.
@MIDERA2 жыл бұрын
I agree, although I wish loop remix was a bit more fluid with drums. When I use it live you can hear the moment I make changes, which is a bummer.
@phoenixloop2 жыл бұрын
@@MIDERA -- agreed... I've rarely used it live. Loop Remix a great little happy accident tool, but it's also f$%king cyptic as to exactly what each algo is going to do to the loop. But, still... I'm the ease of use of the midi/play FX section and stuff like Loop Remix is unparalleled... I'm so surprised that it hasn't shown up on more gear. Squarp is probably the closest.

I totally agree. I wish sequencing was a little easier to do, the rs would’ve been the best sequencer I’ve ever used.

Hah, thanks :) Works like a charm. A shame it's the worst condition command station I've owned :/ I can replace the tact switches, but can't figure out how to bend out the metal piece that is a bit messed up in the back.
@tedstahl37942 жыл бұрын
Outstanding track as usual, Michael! However, I'm confused about the Command Station. I know that the sequencer on those used to drive you crazy. If for no other reason, the fact that when you're playing a track, you can't look at a specific measure because it will keep updating to show you the measure that's currently playing. (Big oversight.) Did you get another one? I know that you liked the engine and that appears to be how you're using this one now, but did you get rid of your original one only to buy another? Just curious, my friend. Peace.

P.S. In addition to the track itself (which is truly beautiful), the footage is absolutely gorgeous. You always understand how to layer visuals effectively with your music. Peace.
@MIDERA2 жыл бұрын
@@tedstahl3794 Hey Ted. Yes, I've always enjoyed the sounds in the command stations, but disliked the sequencer in it. You are correct as to why I hated the sequencer. The fact that it stupidly advances when you are on a bar is absolutely horrid. That said, I've always really liked the music I wrote with them. This is actually my 3rd command station. I've owned a MP7 and a PX7 previously, and of course, the one I have now is in the worst condition. As usual. However, it works. The Squarp is quite nice in addition because I can use its sequencer, which is much nicer, to sequence the CS. Thanks!
@tedstahl37942 жыл бұрын
@@MIDERA I created several compositions on my MP-7, but eventually grew tired of the sequencer for the same reason. These days I'm using a Synthstrom Audible Deluge. In fact, half the tracks I just record as audio. It's a brilliant synth/sampler/looper/sequencer/multi-track recorder/etc. It's really quite the little wonderbox! It's so versatile that you can identify how you want to use it and bend it to your will. The latest firmware allows for playing back tracks in different directions and different time signatures simultaneously. It's really a marvel! On top of that, it can control 16 external instruments via MIDI, two external instruments via CV/Gate, and as many internal instruments as the processor can handle along with as many audio tracks simultaneously too. As for my old MP-7, I kept it because the synth engine is really deep and those Z-Plane filters are really something. However, it isn't quite as awesome as my E-MU Morpheus. Perhaps one day I'll even get an Ultra-Proteus (which has even more filters). Still, I have the MP-7 ROM, the XL-7 ROM, and the Composer ROM in mine. There are a few others out there that are pretty awesome, but they've gotten absurdly priced. For most of my customized ROMpler expansion, I fully-populated my JV-2080 with eight cards of my choice. Sadly, I haven't powered it up since I heard about the exploding capacitor issue with those. I need to get replacement caps and solder those on. Peace to you and yours as always, good sir. Any chance you might be going to Knobcon this year?
