Great video. The bonus segment is fantastic seeing the improvement in return service on that guidance. You have a master eye spotting what can be improved, a true talent.

After coaching for 40 years you tend to pick up on things pretty quick and you have the streamlined methods of how to fix them. This should help other coaches help their players.

@@squashanalysis5670 It certainly helps me with coaching the little ones. There is not much to find on KZbin on teaching the basics (the right way) to kids.

If you don't mind me asking, what brand and model is this racket that you are using in this video?

That one is a salming feather, I am using an Inform racquet now as it has more power but the salming is pretty good squash.com.au has the gear

Backhand serve return has always been an area of difficulty for me. Lost a lot of matches

In our warm up on training we sometimes dedicate some time to just volley cross to each other, , both players standing on opposite side in return serve position. Try to keep the ball alive as long as possible. Volley can become muscle memory that way. Individual solo volley drives along the wall as exercise works as well. Increase the distance from the front wall as you go and keep the ball alive. You'll quickly learn to hold your racket up vertically as it is just efficient for a short swing. You'll also notice a volley drive does not need much power just the right height on the wall. Most people overhit and with a too big of a swing causing all kinds of mishits.

@@Kwistenbiebel100-ns5ko i cant do backhand volley solo well, forehand is ok

You are 100 correct on the swing and control, can I suggest you Volley to yourself then cross volley which will practice the down wall return from the cross volley requiring a change of angle and more body control. Backhand return cross is not so good as it goes to a strength area so it should only be used as a variation, forehand cross is great as it goes to the backhand side.
