Really frustrating to see great athletes careers anding when I'm pretty sure my work as a physical therapist could have kept them going. If anyone from PSA sees this and wants to mention it to him he could always look me up (as could Joel Makin. They both have similar muscle balance and movement patterns but could quite easily move a lot more like Ali Farag)

Martin Jefferies Quite arrogant to think so don’t you think? I’m sure Ramy Ashour has been seeing many experts over the years and wouldn’t be retiring if he still had any slight hope

@@joegreen5698 Hi Joe, I was expecting that response but you were real quick! I know it sounds arrogant . . . but I've had many many clients who'd seen every one they could find and had surgeries they didn't need to no effect but got better after I'd treated them, some had surgery booked before I saw them but never had to have them after a few sessions with me. I've tried approaching a lot of major athletes and musicians to offer my help but they have a lot of walls around them. If they didn't I'd contact them directly instead of posting in places like this. So, sorry it looks arrogant. If I ever get to work with a top flight squash player I'll be sure to let you know how they get on and, just so you know, if Ramy or Joel were interested, I wouldn't charge them a penny EDIT: a few years ago I checked through my case histories for the previous 15-years. 99.46% of the clients I'd seen 4-5 times were 'fixed'. That's not arrogance, that's statistics.

Shabana, Mathew, Ashour and who knows how Greg is doing... The end of an era, one of the best era in the sport as far as I'm concerned. Thank you Ramy for putting everything on the line, your intensity on the court was inspiring to watch.

This is sad for a number of reasons. Not just his health and the fact that he was such a great player, but that nobody is replacing him that can even hold a torch to his skill and, more importantly, 'watchability'. It makes watching squash today harder because you know the current field just isn't as good as this guy so you're always watching and wishing for something more.

For me the best player ever to play the game. A sad day but unfortunately he's made the right choice. It was so hard watching him struggle for so long. He always will be to me the best and most inspirational player. He completely changed the game. A true legend of the sport not just for his brilliance on court, but for his personality off it too.

This is what talent incarnate looks like! He will certainly be one of the very few whom we'll measure future squash greatness against, although he is truly incomparable! Seeing this match reminds me once again (AGAIN!) the farce of not having squash in the Olympics. The level of skill, athleticism and sheer determination displayed in the second game is astonishing, breathtaking even.

Let's see, Ramy was out of competitive play for a full 6 months, comes back, reaches the final and beats the WORLD no. 1 in 3 straight games~! Without a doubt, we just witnessed the true all-time Squash Master. May the long queues now begin to form in anticipation of his upcoming distinguished coaching career. Well done, Mr Ashour, .....very well done.

yes but most athletes retire because they get old and past their prime which wasnt the case for Ramy. If not for his injuries he would be world no. 1 with this match being his last healthy match as proof. And i believe if a solution for his injury were to be found he will return.
