Dear Sebastian, I want to thank you so much for your helpful videos. My squash game has improved so much after watching them. I still struggle with returning serve straight down wall on my backhand side but much less so now. I appreciate very much the time and effort you have put into making these professional videos. I like that you put markers on the wall and comments on screen too. I hope that you can make more videos.

10:00 min. Great example when you can go directly to the T rather than going around from the back wall. I remember few months back during a practice session, one lady who was not even a qualified coach was so perturbed, angry and frustrated whenever someone was not going in a circle motion from the back wall regardless of whether the ball was returning high or low from the front wall. We had a hard time training with such players with rigid thinking.

Back wall boast is always an option. Obviously not letting the ball bounce would be ideal, so if possible volley! Working on digging the ball out is also important, working on wrist action in small spaces!

Brilliant. Question: How to best return really good lob serves to the backhand side that hits far back and high on the wall?
@squashoriginals2392
@squashoriginals2392 Жыл бұрын
I try to place the ball back high on the front wall, I will make a short video about how to hit this. You could return straight or cross court, but make sure with the cross you go wide enough. Goal is to not let you opponent volley this shot.

I am having a lot of trouble returning really hard, fast serves. I am having difficulty deciding whether to take it off the wall or to let it go deeper.
@squashoriginals2392

What is your position on the return of serve? Do you have a good idea of where the ball will end up after the ball leaves the racket (or comes of the front wall) of the opponent? Is your first reaction, fight, flight or freeze (I find this an interesting one, this has to do with your personality)? All these things matter.. 😊

@@squashoriginals2392 Thank you so much for the response. I believe I am standing in a good spot, where you indicated in your video. My attitude is to move forward and hit. I play tennis and love coming in to volley. I think the problem is I am having difficulty gauging where the ball will end up, so I guess I have to concentrate more on that, to maybe practice with someone just on seeing if I can read it right. Your advice about keeping things loose and relaxed and not hitting too hard is a very good reminder to. Funny how that advice works in so many sports.

Can someone tell me if the opponent can step into the other side of the box while returning the serve? This happens when the opponent can't volley and returning after the bounce.
