I had to watch the video twice to soak up all the mega-adorableness! The first shot in the very beginning of all 4 eating, lined up - I couldn't take it was so cute. "I put in an extra water bowl, and I hope they drink from it." (Phoebe proceeds to nibble the bowl)! I love how Lyra seems to be the cool aunt - she doesn't seem to mind them running about, but Willow is the stern mama saying, stop pestering me - I am trying to sleep! I love when you were putting the piggies in the big home, Willow's feet were so cute as she took off to explore her home! And toward the end, Phoebe basically sitting under Lyra, Lyra taking the grass or hay from her mouth! And @7:05, Phoebe's face!!! They are such adorable babies - Phoebe is just a sweet ball of fluff and I love Roxy's tail of nutty hair - is she an abby/peruvian mix? They just are in my heart already! I hope the 4 get along as they have so far. You are already in love with them, so I think they know. hehe Loved this video! Thanks so much!
@SqueakDreams4 жыл бұрын
Awh thank you! They are such little characters and I hope they know they are loved already indeed! Yes they are both a mixture of abyssinnian and peruvian, probably some other breeds too, phoebe also has rosettes and a slightly longer tuft of hair as well, but her hair is course and wavy whereas Roxy's is smooth and very straight, she's so soft!
@jbjacobs95144 жыл бұрын
@@SqueakDreams They just won me over immediately! Roxy looks like she has that soft hair that makes you want to hug and kiss her and Phoebe has what I call "Abby lips" which are immediately kissable. The funny thing, as different as all 4 piggies look, they actually kind of look like a family - almost as if they are related. That must just be my wacky mind! LOL I wish you many wheeks and purrs of happiness for years to come with these lil ones (and hopefully a few more years with the lovely Lyra and Willow). Generation Next! Get ready for zoomies and popcorning!

Most gps wouldn't get over the perspex wall, but I had one gp who could get over barriers that high. Couldn't put her in a cardboard box. She'd always get out. Hate to alarm you, but might be necessary to re-think. It's wonderful setup and I know it'll be a right hassle, but personally, I'd be a little concerned. Odds are they'll be absolutely fine though.
@SqueakDreams4 жыл бұрын
Thank you - I have found even with piggies who can jump they have no inclination to where the cage is concerned. I'm avoiding putting things close to the edge but also haven't seen them being too jumpy or trying to climb things either :)

Lovely babies! Do they vaccinations or regular flea treatment and what are your thoughts on pet insurance in the UK? Thanks
@SqueakDreams4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sam - thank you! No guinea pigs don't need vaccinations and regular parasite treatment usually isn't necessary unless they meet other pigs from outside the home. I personally don't have extra pet insurance for them though I know it is available. Chances are they will need vet treatment in their lives but it is usually not too expensive. For example, I had one piggie spayed to treat ovarian cysts and the operation and after care was £80. Consultations for an exotics vet can be upwards of £60 however. Antibiotics usually around £30 and less for pain relief. The best advice for vet care in the UK is to find an experienced exotics vet as guinea pigs are an "exotic" pet and most vets don't receive in depth training on them :)

I just wanted to warn and say one of my female pigs lived 10 years and we got her as an adult the other lived twelve witch is insane to me because the average life span is up to 8 so be very careful and aware that you need to be prepared to have a long-lived pet .

When you say they’re litter trained, does that just mean they pee in the litter box or do they eventually do everything in there?????

Like the box idea for the hay! Out of curiosity how often do you suggest cleaning up after piggies? I currently spot check 1/2 times a day and get rid of hay that they've pulled out on the floor and pooped/peed on. But wondering if I'm doing it too much and throwing away hay they'd be happy with having around for a bit longer underfoot (though worried about bumblefoot if I left it there)?

Aww Sarah such pretty babies and your larger piggies love them too! They settled beautifully together it was such a sweet video, lovely to watch them. Thanks for sharing it, and now you have double trouble - twice as many !! Great to see them and my question is: Can you bear to tell us what happened to Annie and Lola? Btw I know you make cage accessories but do you make cage liners? I couldn't find them on Etsy so if so, can you please link it for me? Thanks
@SqueakDreams4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes double trouble indeed! Annie and Lola were my lovely rescue piggies I got back in 2010/11 - they passed on (Lola first due to a suspected bladder/kidney issue and Annie after surgery due to a massive ovarian cyst) in 2014 and 2015, leaving Sprite - who was a single piggie until Willow, Lyra and Twiglet joined her in 2015. I don't make the cage liners to sell, they wouldn't be cost effective with the materials I use for other waterproof pads etc, but I do have a tutorial video and will have another updated one for making the waterproof cage pads too soon :) x
