I'm currently making fleece liners and peepads for my piggies. After watching another of your tutorials on YT, I had the confidence to buy a sewing machine and materials and give this a go. My first liner and pads weren't bad but the next set was much better. I'm working on my third set now and I think I'm enjoying it. You are an inspiration!

I finally made the switch to fleece bedding for my guinea pigs this past summer. I am so glad that I did! I made most of the liners and pads myself. A few of the larger liners I got from GuineaDad online. They are pricey, but so worth it. I use blizzard fleece and cotton batting for mine. I think the mattress protectors would probably be better and cheaper. A note about wicking your fleece...use a Free and Clear detergent, white vinegar (I use a full cup for the initial wash), and a tablespoon of Dawn (blue) dish detergent. Heavy Duty and Warm settings on the washing machine. Then warm to low heat on the dryer. I found this amazing brush for cleaning off poos and hair from the pads/liners. I got it on Amazon. It's called Pet Hair Cleaner. Other small whisk brooms work good too. But the brushes I got make the job quick and easy. Above all, stick to your budget!!! I add on to my supplies when I can afford to upgrade only! Hope this helps 🥰

I currently use the large puppy pads , the washable ones. I use three at a time, i have nine . I dont find they are very obsorbant . I deep clean their piggies cage twice a week . I also have a dozen small mats. I change out three , daily , where the piggies hang out most often , however they arent very absorbant. I also change out the two specific sleep sacs , daily that they use the most . I think making my own for my for my two piggies with their seven foot by three foot bottom cage and two foot by three foot top part with the ramp . Thank you so much ! Your showing exactly what materials and how to do this will help out so much ! ❤

i made my own liners - i followed one of your tutorials to do them (couple of years ago now!) - my main mats are just made from fleece with zorb though but they still need paper underneath corners of cage and pee pads on top, it's like a never ending quest to have the perfect functioning accessories!

I used your older toroidal to make my liners and a couple years later they’re still holding up! The only thing I did different was to do some quilting to keep the layers together ❤
@jojomomster37722 ай бұрын
Yes, cheaper fleece and microfibres require quilting
@thesqueakkeep2 ай бұрын
Do you quilt through the waterproof layer as well?
@mandapanda59212 ай бұрын
@@thesqueakkeepYep!
@jojomomster37722 ай бұрын
@@thesqueakkeep no I do not, I quilt the fleece to the absorbent material (Uhaul or batting) leaving myself an allowance for the quilting to distort/shrink the absorbent, trim the top, and then either sew the top to the waterproof backing good side to good side as shown by Sarah or use a border made from imperfect sheets that I like to buy and shred into continuous bias tape. For regular fleece pads or liners (fleece front and back) I quilt through all layers leaving 1” or so from the edge for trimming as needed. then turn the fleece edges into the sandwich, baste, then put a blanket stitch or do a border then a top stitch to edge the quilting.

I tried making these from squeakdreams video a few years ago. I made similar without the waterproof lining. I washed the waterproof lining before cutting to size but it smelt so much like wet nappies and was still sopping wet after two spin cycles I immediately threw it in the bin.

Henlo! love your videos! thanks so much for this!! I made some pee pads with the older video instrucions but instead of the waterproof matress protector I used tablecloths form the dollar store, but I'm having an issue and is that it seems like laying these on top of the cage liner seems to trap the pee in between, making the waterproof part of the peepads and that section of the fleece liner wet, I don't know if it is because of the change in the material or if this is normal, do you or someone else have this same issue? Thanks for your help!!

Hello Sarah, My name is Randy. From the United States. I'm a new owner of two young female Guinea Pigs. (Luana & Kiona) I have been watching a lot of your videos to learn as much as I can, so I can be the best caretaker for them as possible. I have been hearing you mention fleece liners for the cages a lot in your videos. So my question is, What kind of fleece? Like how do I pick out the best waterproof, easy cleaning, and most comfortable fleece liners? Please help? Maybe send me some links from amazon for good fleece liners? Please Please. ( Btw i absolutely love your videos and your beautiful Guinea piggy's.

we have a 2x6 C&C cage, but we cannot find bedsheets for the waterproof and absorbant layer any longer than 200cm, but we need one thats roughly 217cm - any ideas? I wanted to avoid sewing two pieces together.
@SqueakDreams11 күн бұрын
The longest I've found is 200 too, so I'm afraid so it would be a case of cutting a bit off (could probably still do it using the same one) and sewing it onto the end. I will say that you really don't notice it once it's all sewn up together 😊.

I use pads in the hotspots, which can get wet in a few days but they are much easier to swap out than the liners. Some more absorbent alternatives are layers of Terry towelling or bamboo towelling, or something like Zorb which is highly absorbent 😊
